The New Pier

I liked the ambience, the fresh squeezed mandarin juice, the restaurant choice and service, the wines offered and the foot massage. It had a feel that I liked. I do love the Wing and its dim sum and Champers - this visit I was there for breakfast and there wasn't much on the menu, it was lunch time when I was at the Pier with a really good menu giving it the edge.

I fully agree with each to their own

I haven't been to the QF lounge in HKG since it was refurbished so have no idea what it is like - however, If it is similar to the SIN and LAX ones I don't think it will have anything on the Pier or the Wing - IMO of course and as the CX lounges are the flagship CX F lounges in their home port not a surprise.

CX staff arrive within seconds of you finishing a meal or drink etc asking if they can assist with more food or another drink and taking away the empty.

Assuming one can access it on a QF ticket, what is the Emirates lounge like?

It's nice enough, just like every other EK outport lounge really, but not a patch on the CX F options.
I only ever use it if I'm on an EK flight.

I am in the new Pier First lounge now.

It is quiet. No buffet food only meals off the menu. It is OK. Steady may need to explain to me why it's so special.

Not saying the Wing is better but the roast beef tenderloin was great. So were the chilli prawns. And the salmon. And roast potatoes. And Qantas was quiet ok too.

To each their own.

Wasn't The Pantry functioning?

I thought you couldn't see what the fuss was about re the Wing? And I guess the Pier happened to be the lounge closest to the gate, as is your preference?

I visited 6 lounges yesterday. Didn't say the new Pier First is not nice. Don't understand why people are raving on about it.

I think you've observed many times to the effect that people have different tastes etc

Well, people have different tastes.

My taste in lounges is pretty much exactly what the new Pier offers [thinking of service, furniture, décor, a la carte, buffet, drinks, and more]. That's why I rave on about it. If you have different tastes than me, then you won't see why I rave on about it.

And yes, that's my opinion, too.

6 lounges is a good effort - what time are you arriving on the 2nd?

How many lounges can a Oneworld emerald access in HKG on QF ticket

You can visit 8 lounges including G16 lounge. When Pier business lounge opens up that will be 9 lounges.

I arrive ~5:30pm and my objective would be to visit the Emirates lounge if open as I've not visited that lounge yet. Have a quick look at buffet in the Wing Haven restaurant then finish up at Qantas lounge before flight.

Purchased a first ticket through QFF points on an Emirates flight out of HK.....will i get a QF number on my boarding pass allowing me into the Cathay Lounges, or will i be stuck with the Qantas/Emirates lounges?

I believe the oneworld rules state that for entry you need to be departing on a oneworld ticketed AND operated flight.

I was denied entry to the MH lounges at KUL for a similar reason. We were flying TK Y on a codeshare on a flight number which read MHxx_x and both had oneworld status myself QF Gold and my mate QF Plat.

Have a few hours scheduled for next week as we make our way to FCO

You will more than likely have an EK flight number for award bookings. I did recently for BKK-HKG.

And I have a difference experience but flying business class on TG flight KUL-BKK with MHxx_x flight number earlier this year. Perhaps it was business class that allowed entry to lounge but the lounge reception didn't bat an eyelid.

Short video here

Page kept crashing my browser - but tried it in Chrome and it's a nice video. A reminder of my one, all-too-brief visit.

Not that I partook given it was early morning, but also a reminder that the alcohol selection appeared quite limited, for a F lounge.

Currently here with 2 hrs to kill before the massage appointment. Feeling a bit queasy from the boat trip from Macau so I've got to be careful about what I eat and drink - bugger! Is there an easier way to get here other than walk, kinda understand why they offer foot massages now after all that trekking to get here.

Oh no...we are visiting Macao in July and +1 is prone to sea sickness. Better not mention the boat ride to her!

Nothing like your boat trip out of CNS, I'm a softie when it comes to sailing/boating. I thought I did alright until I got to the airport.

I caught the train out, but it is one way so walked back

Back in the day, the people mover was two way - these day's it's Westerly (Wing to Pier) for departures and Easterly for arrivals (no lounge).
