Wonder how my oiled heels from the massage will cope trekking back to the Wing/QF! Sigh, things one have to do to be a true AFF-er!!
The massage therapists are all Nepalese, the one I had was really good, really helped easing the queasiness.

The massage was really good
(but it came with the whole life story - not sure if I was supposed to tip after being told how lucky I am?)

Oh no...we are visiting Macao in July and +1 is prone to sea sickness. Better not mention the boat ride to her!
My wife suffers from motion sickness. Car, bus, boat, train, aircraft. You name it. We have been on that Macau-Hong Kong ferry twice now. A tablet for motion sickness ~30 minutes before departure and she is OK. Not sure if sea sickness is the same.

Did they offload their life story onto you or the other way round? I had the latter, was quite uncomfortable sharing when there were 2 other people getting their massages nearby. Anyway, I tried not to be rude so shared a bit and got them to change topic.

There was only one massuse working when I was done and she told me her life story as a single mum, that was ok. Then she started asking me lots of questions and equating the answer to how much better off I was making me wonder if I was supposed to give her money

I had a similar situation when I used the shower facilities in LHR T3 BA F lounge...it was just after the Nepalese earthquake, and the lady just came out and asked me whether I had donated to the Nepalese earthquake appeal....didn't really appreciate the direct Q!! :( Also, isn't there meant to be to silence whilst having a massage so you can enjoy it in peace and quiet?

These aren't full massages as you are just sitting on a couch getting your feet rubbed or on a chair to get your back/neck done. And unless you close your eyes I guess it's open to have a chat. Seeing as the masseuse was in a chatty mood and wasn't being paid by me (directly) I didn't object, though it does diminish the experience a bit. I had a Nepalese woman for my foot massage. She was not a single Mum but did give me a fair bit of her life story and asked me some questions which were reasonably personal. The other masseuse at the time was silent through her session.

And edit: at no stage did I feel a tip was necessary or expected. I was only transiting so had no local currency anyway.

Superb lounge!

SWMBO and I enjoyed a hard pressure  foot massage. The kids have seen a few F lounges and give it a big thumbs up!

Beautiful baked eggs

I'm currently in The Pier, this is my first visit of the new First lounge and I have only one comment: Wow!
I used to really like the Wing, but now in comparison the Wing has the atmosphere of an operating theatre :p
I haven't been that pleasantly surprised by a lounge in a long time.
Too bad QF flights tend to use departure gates so far away from Gate 63.

It's not that long a walk. Think ~15m-20m at most.

I did all the lounges again 2 weeks ago. Arrived near gate 28 and not far to nearest transit entry point. Went to the Cabin, then Wing, then train to gate 40 and went to the Bridge, then to the Pier for shower. BKK flight departing from gate 19 so wandered over to Qantas lounge for a Pure Blonde and then the Gate 15 lounge before boarding.

Well, tonight QF128 leaves from Gate 33, so the Pier is close enough. I don't mind a 15 minute walk, but sometimes it's nice to be able to stay in the lounge until boarding starts.

I had a nice "late lunch", dining room was almost empty so the service was really good.
So first the squid salad:

Followed by the braised garoupa:

Then cheese and rum and raisins ice cream:

I was in there on Tuesday evening and found the lounge to be very pleasant however the dining room seemed old and cold way too much wood and green.

Which is actually what I liked about it. I found the 'club' feel very relaxing.

Yes, me too. I guess everyone's taste is different but I really like the Pier.

Thanks for posting the latest menu defurax. Quite different to my last visits (admittedly a few months ago now).

Here's the menu from last week. I enjoyed the champagne selection. I wish QF would bring back the Veuve Clicquot to their F lounge.

Having confidently predicted upthread I would never again meet the Nepalese lady who gave me a foot massage back in 2015... she was there and gave me another terrific massage the other night. She not only remembered me but also where I was flying to last time, then where I was headed after that and who I was meeting up with! I returned the favour by asking after her child, extended family and her accommodation challenges.

I wonder what it is about your feet!
