Yeah, doesn't hurt to have a waitlist on SQ, it's just that the chances of it actually clearing are incredibly low, and even more so when it's peak travel time. We've all had waitlists clear for one reason or another at some point, but it's always been a backup rather than Plan A.

Back in the day we were able to call in and "send a chaser" but now they're explicitly told *not* to do that.

Not entirely true IMO (but status helps a lot).

I have had quite a few J wait lists cleared but as a Solitaire.

I've had quite a few J waitlists clear, even one F (advantage) waitlist. I find waitlists either clear within 1-2 weeks of submitting them, or 2-3 weeks before departure. Never in between, in my experience.

Make the booking for yourself online, then call to add the infant. While you are on the phone they will send you an email link to enter card details for payment. You can also request bassinets on the same call.

SQ charges 10% of the full adult fare for an infant award ticket, so it's generally cheaper to book return in the one PNR instead of two one-way PNRs.

Yes, been lucky and had all waitlists cleared. Years ago I used to call and ask whether they were likely to clear. I don't think you can do that anymore.

My partner is Solitaire, and I have status as supplementary Solitaire. Before COVID, put in an economy waitlist it was bound to come through - fairly quickly, even if the flight was quite full. Business class was more hit and miss. Now waitlists, even in economy, almost never come through, and no more "chasers". Not sure what has changed, perhaps the process is much more automated now and computer always says "no".
