I have just arrived in Adelaide from Perth on what without doubt is the fastest & most efficient execution of a QF flight I've experienced in my 20 odd years flying domestically ..

Flight: QF 584 - PER - ADL
Dept (Sched): 16:55
Board (Sched): 16:35
Arr (Sched): 21:10
Dur (Est): 2:35 hrs

Heres the sequence of events .. (times are approximate)

16:23 - Boarding flashing on departure board (12 mins early)
16:25 - Boarded aircraft. Asked FA 'Boarding early?' .. 'Yeah trying to make up time for expected slow flight'
16:36 - All passengers seated
16:38 - Doors closed & pushback
16:39 - *FAST* taxi to runway. FA's barely finished Safety before rolling direct onto runway - no stopping at all during taxi.
16:41 - Takeoff. (14 mins early)
16:46 - Seatbelt signs off.
16:55 - Movie started
17:05 - Meal Service begun.
+2hrs Time Change
20:30 - Begin Descent
20:51 - Landed (19 mins early) - a hot landing too !
20:53 - Arrival at Gate (*FAST* taxi & park again!)
20:55 - Disembarked
21:00 - Bags on Carousel
21:05 - Bag collected walked to taxi rank.

So there you have it - we are basically in a cab *before* our flight was even due to land !! And a reminder this was with *no wind advantage* that you often get on eastbound PER flights.

I dont know what the QF crew (air *and* ground) were on tonight .. but please get some more of it !! It was Air Asia like in its no-time-wasted speed.

A real credit to them for incredibly fast & efficient turnaround on this flight at all aspects - well done QF !!!!

I love a great flight.

Recently did per-syd in under 3 hours.. wind assisted of course.

The bad thing is that lots of people just wait at the destination airport, because the flight is so early.

I presume also that departing / arriving early would affect the on-time stats too..

Monday night had a similarly executed flight PER-MEL, all loaded early as little wind assistance, and off we went.

On arrival in Melbourne, First Officer gave the spiel at top of descent saying that ATC had been kind and was giving us a fast descent into Melbourne etc etc etc.

(An interesting observation of my weekend flying was that both directions had mixed sex flight crews in both directions! A female first officer one way, and a female captain on the way back.)

Good to hear, although I suspect the crew were on their last leg for the day so they had an added incentive to leave early. Note that for BNE/SYD?MEL departures aircraft have nominated push back times and they cannot do so before that time.
