The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Joyce cancelled an IT system upgrade back in 2013/14. Did they ever end up doing it? Even 10 years ago the complaint was the system was hopeless because it was a system that originated in the early 90s.

So annoying when flight is delayed and boarding pass disappears on the app. Just brings me back to the review changes page with no option to get it back
Have to then get a printed pass from the desk

Had an equipment swap PER-SYD A330 to B737 about 1 day out. The trip was booked as a Classic Reward JQ whY DPS-PER / QF J PER-SYD. I only noticed the change after I checked into JQ but the system still had us in 2K and 4K (apparently not reallocated). QF MMB booking wouldn’t allow select seat and I could see in EF the J cabin was full bar one seat!

I will never know if we had indeed been allocated 2 seats because I rang QF and all they could see was 2K/4K (and I could hear head scratching over the phone). First rep says he’ll put us on the earlier flight (A330 / arrives home earlier - win win) but that didn’t stick, 2nd rep does manage to shoehorn us into row 1 (probably bumped a now unhappy camper with an upgrade). About 1 hr later, I see 2D/F are free - were we there all along - who knows…🤷‍♂️? But took them anyway so we were seated together….

Meanwhile JQ at DPS refused to check through - some BS about QF checkin only open 3 hrs before. Plus no BP for QF and given the kerfuffle above. The QF wouldn’t let us get a BP either. Needless to say we were a little anxious until be rechecked in at PER T3…

I’ll probably think twice about doing that combo again….

I always screen shot mine just in case

I usually carry by physical QFF card on me. It's worked on those instances though the last time I needed it might have been in 2019.

The app has usually been OK if the flight delay is updated in the app beforehand. The trouble starts when the app still believes on one departure time but the boarding actually happens later.

If its domestic, just scan the digital QFF card in the app

So its best to book QF to return to home city on a trip?
I had lost my VAd BP, had done VAd OLCI 48 hrs prior to trip, (on app it was not there), (on email BP wont come back), (saved to google drive and it didnt want to come back).
So if QFd OLCI had been done, the QFF physical card or on QFF bar code on app works as a BP?
Think VAd needs the real BP to board.
Thanks for the tip, out of home city VA to save $, coming back to home city, QF for ease of boarding BP wise.

If you have an android always screen shot QF BPs as you cant save them to Google Wallet, if you have an iphone save the BP to your Apple wallet.

QF boarding passes expire and cannot be retrieved in the QF the app when a flight is significantly delayed.

It is crazy at JQ supports saving BP to Google Wallet but QF doesnt; given popularity of Android.

Multi-city tool looks to have knocked off and gone down to the pub again this Friday arvo.... cannot load any 3rd flights of a 4 part domesic multi city itinerary (and yes the flight does exist).

Well QF IT reckon mrsdrron is on track to become the world's oldest woman. An email today said that her QF account will expire in 2117. She will be over 160 years old!.
I had bad news for her. Our super will not last that long.
Perhaps for one person it would? :)

Going thru a very weird booking experience with QF and QBR … I’m able to see the fare that I want on the QBR website, but QBR CC at CPT are not able to see this fare. They are however able to see the Sale and Saver fare for the flights that I want, and I need the Flex fare, but they are not able to sell the Flex fare. I can choose to buy the Flex fare from website if I like, but I’m reusing a PNR and they don’t seem to find a way … any time I ask for an explanation, all I get it, computer says no. We are not able to price a Flex fare. Looks like we can only sell you Saver fare.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. Same route, last month, it took QBR team at CPT 5 days to sell me a higher fare class than what they are able to sell. Apparently they had to talk to HBA and get an exception/ approval to sell me an expensive fare … and they didn’t give me the 6% QBR Level 1 discount. So took another 5 days to get approval for refund of the discount …

This time around, the quoted me at least $800 over the Flex fare on the website and I simply said no. So they have gone back to see what can be done and I’m expecting a call sometime today with a outcome, positive, one can hope …

You select a seat when booking > 6 month before flight departure.

The seat (5A) you booked shows in MMB but then you check in and find yourself given a boarding pass with a worse (coughty middle seat 5F). Call QFF and premium line says no you are def in 5A even though boarding pass says 5F.
