The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Trying to look at commercial seats SIN LHR. Apparently one can’t, you have to use points? QF - gimme a break here.
What's more fun is that the work experience kids have left the flights bookable with cash if you use the multi-city booking query. 🤷‍♂️

Was looking for SYD - SIN Reward flights, and found MH J seats for cheaper than MH Y seats!

Can anyone explain what's going on here?

No, but if they’re classic rewards - take them.

Mind you, QF J CR ought to be much less than 75k oneway.

Maybe one is a Classic Reward and the other an any seat? Take the cheaper J.
What's an "any" seat? It doesn't look like a points+pay based on taxes and round points figure...

QF only do daytime flights, I'm looking for a red-eye.

MH Y is $700 return for the dates I'm looking for which is a pretty good deal. Also don't need J for this trip
Was interested in seeing if Qantas had reward availability...

”Any seat” is a points equivalent of a cash fare. Stay well clear of those!

A phrase I’ve never seen mentioned on AFF before!

Why would you want a “red-eye”? As an aside, there’s a QF codeshare on EK ex MEL that might suit your needs.

More time in the SYD F lounge? 🤣
Thanks for the recommendation for EK ex MEL... don't think F lounge is open that late though

Could it be the economy one is actually a mix class booking? I.e. oneof the flight is in J (or F) and the other one in Y, and the cost is the sum of those individual segments? If you click on the Y, it might raise a warning "your flight between A and B is in C class".

yeah this will definitely be it. But if you click through to close to the checkout screen, I *think* it should reprice to 75,000. It's just the way the search engine works, it doesn't compute all the pricing options until you click through. I've seen this on QF metal mixed class bookings too.

I am pretty sure that is all due to their rights in SIN and if you do make a points booking it won't be on QF metal or if it is, it will be via Australia.
Qantas have full rights to sell from Singapore using their own metal.

It was odd. That IT gripe extended to other booking engines, ie I looked for the same flights on other sites like Expedia and you couldn't book QF

I know I have griped about this before, probably in this thread, however I just flew GOT-LHR with BA this morning. Boarding pass nicely showing on the Lock Screen when I woke up to get to the airport. I did AY LHR-HEL-ARN as well and the right board as was always available at the right time. No unlocking, no faffing with PINs or FaceId to show the pass for scanning.

Qantas still can’t do this, delta could do this over 10 years ago when I lived in the states. I’ve submitted feature requests numerous time.

Which OS? I could swear that QF and VA BPs do that on iOS.

My recent AS flights were doing it and I’ll keep an eye out in a weeks time for QF.

I’m fairly certain VA does this on iOS - I vaguely remember it appearing on a PER-SYD VA flight last year.

I flew QF domestic last month and my BP did not show. It also did not show on a QF international last week. I’m on iOS 16.

So I just booked an award flight SYD-PER economy on QF. Couldn't get any simpler. Literally just a return flight. No codeshare no partner airlines no jetstar nothing.

No points deducted no eticket. Only booking reference has been generated.

I went and entered APIS information. Been about 1 hr.

How long before I panic?

Knowing QF IT systems I bet Cathay Pacific will somehow cancel the return segment.

Spare a thought for us Android users that can't even save QFF BPs in Google Wallet, let alone the luxury of having them on your lock screen!!

Even JQ has supported Google Pay/Wallet for years, but when flying Qantas the only option Android users have for a digital boarding pass is the useless QF app that often fails to load/loses all your trips.

APIS on a domestic flight? Is that a thing?
