The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes.

What has happened to Qantas booking? I just booked three flights and had to enter all my card details for everyone. They seem to be doing some sort of weird screen split thing.
Also, when I tried to book a car, I just got the nothing available message. Really? Booking a car from Sydney airport and there's nothing available at 10.30 am? After some experimentation, I found if I scrolled down and specified a specific car hire company, all worked fine, but limited to that company. Still seriously strange!
They’ve done something with the cards that were stored.

I love "enhanced". Such a useful word!
Qantas have totally enhanced the meaning of enhanced. It should be put into the Modern Dictionary.

Enhancement - a term used to describe an IT method employed by Qantas that removes any advantages or benefits previously supplied and replaces them with frustrations and poorer experiences.

I'm not sure we can really confine it to Qantas IT though can we....?

In terms of gripes, I would like the ability to make a reward booking and cash booking in the same PNR for two people (i.e. when I want to pay for one ticket with cash and one on points) rather than have to make two separate bookings and then link the PNRs

Windows updated on me last night and somehow lost all my stored passwords. Go to log into Qantas Business and used the wrong password. Immediately locked me out; "Too many incorrect attempts". Only tried once! Security question wouldn't work so had to phone and listen to endless messages telling me how I could do most tasks myself on the website.
Got it all sorted, tried to log in to change password which required a verification code sent to my mobile. All goes well, except it won't accept the verification code; "Oops something went wrong, try again". Ten codes later, some received by phone, some by e.mail, still it's "Oops.."! Only trying to log into my account to book a flight. They're making it hard. Yesterday they wiped my stored cards and denied they had any cars to hire. Today I can't even access the site. Are they trying to tell me something? Perhaps they have too many P1's and want me to take some of my business elsewhere to reduce the pressure!

Seems like it's a busy Friday afternoon in the IT dept. For a customer a simple idea to check in Mrs Albatross and send her a Lounge pass....

This is core business for an airline so it's disappointing.

In general, I have too many to list and just given up. QF must have made some changes for QBR as I changed a flight today and I was able to select 4C (I am P1) at the time of booking rather than having to do this post booking in 'manage my bookings'

Just thought I would look up something, got to site without looking in and click on the menu - guess what you get?

That's right, nothing!

It is often small details that annoy me - the other day I was buying a gift voucher - during the process the "computer" had to stop and think for a while - so of course the screen got a temporary pop-up advising it was "searching for flights".....

When it comes down to it you are booking a 'flight' most likely QF9092 and one that goes from QZY-QZW in a year ahead.

The gift voucher thing where you have to enter your name and details twice, once as the purchaser and once as the recipient.

When you log in to check your seats and once you've completed that you're logged out without being allowed to do any other functions.

Shouldn't have to, but I get around that by opening another window where I'm still logged in.

The QFF pages have this message if you are on OW booking that does not include a QF flight # (but does include your QFF# in the booking):

But if you open up the App on the phone, you get the booking displayed with the warning that you can't check in online, which is fair enough as the first leg is an AY flight number on CX metal.

Why can' they display these bookings on the web version as well? Ever more consistently inconsistent?

They used to! Then with the ‘enhancements’ they stopped

This used to annoy me, too, especially if I was going through the seats for multiple flights, each one requiring a separate login and navigating back to bookings. But, it seems most time you get around by clicking on the little 'Exit' (and a right-arrow through a square) link which usually takes you back to your bookings. Not the most intuitive aspect of the interface but seems to work OK.

What's annoyed me of late is while actively doing something on the site up pops an almost full screen "Need help? Let's chat" pop-up that requires a click to remove. Why show a pop-up at all if you are active and moving through the site - but even if so, how about a discrete pop-up on the side that you can click or happily ignore.

I’ve noticed this on many websites of late and it’s a right royal pain. Another annoyance (not Qantas) is the having to click cookies and privacy statements thanks to recent legislation.
