The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

How do they get to their seats though, without going through the crowded accessways?
I’ve been to a few games at the MCG during the very brief window of opportunity...
The experience there was very much analagous to going to a restaurant, cafe, pub, etc. or being a passenger on a commercial flight: mask on while indoors and moving about; mask off while eating/drinking or outside.
I couldn’t see any real difference between walking to my seat at the ground (masked), Vs going through checkpoints or boarding gates on a flight.
In both scenarios, the virus spreading potential seems similar, an greatly dependent upon the goodwill & good behaviour of the participants.

(But I’m not a scientist, or otherwise qualified to have an opinion...)

Any idea which is a 'better' booster? Or all about the same? Or is there a different answer depending on whether one got AZ or Pfizer???

My understanding is that only Pfizer is currently approved as a booster.

My Niece who is in her thirties and in 1b and had AZ before Atagi changed the rules (on two levels age and specific blood clotting illness - APS) she has just had her booster of Pfizer as she is severely immunocompromised. She did not have any issues with the two AZ.

I can book in for Pfizer after two AZ, the second being done in early June from also being in 1b. I'll get it in early December.

Thanks. I thought it was officially either Pfizer or Moderna in Australia. But of course in practice there would be AZ available in a sneaky visit. I must have picked up misinformation somewhere.....

It’s pretty easy - officially Pfizer for most.

People have however been boosting with the other two but they weren’t indicated.

Remember health care workers done in the first batch were well well into the Pfizer fade and many took matters into their own hands - which is their prerogative and allowed.

Looks like 80% double dose (16+) will likely be reported tomorrow

5/11 report - 79.61%
4/11 report - 79.07%
3/11 report - 78.51%
2/11 report - 78.10%
1/11 report - 77.46%

Looks like 90% first dose (16+) might be reported perhaps in 7 days?! 🤞

5/11 report - 89.03%
4/11 report - 88.86%
3/11 report - 88.69%
2/11 report - 88.53%
1/11 report - 88.33%

TAS has reached 90% first dose (16+), so hopefully they will reach 90% fully vaccinated early December.

WA may reach 80% first dose (16+) when today's numbers are released tomorrow leaving just QLD and NT short of that mark

Some friends have had Pfizer booster after 2 AZ ahead of travelling overseas.

I haven’t had long enough since my 2nd AZ yet to get a booster. I only had my 2nd dose in September.

No, both PZ and AZ are available - as booster

Officially AZ available to previous 2Jab AZ or those who can’t have PZ.

SV approval in the works…
Guess it's a moot point in SA as the hubs to get the booster are no longer using AZ. Don't know about other places but unless getting around the system as of now, they aren't in the official booster mix announced today in SA.

Far from a moot point as some people cannot have PZ due to serious reactions.
Can't help you there. Just know that the boosters so far are only available at the hubs - that will change I guess, and they don't offer AZ. Hence currently it's moot in SA.

ATAGI have now classified one of my auto immune illnesses as contraindicative to having AZ but had already had the first dose when that was updated. So I sought advice and had the second. I'd prefer Pfizer now for the booster. I'm noticing I'm bruising more than I have ever done before. Likely bears no relationship but really, who knows. Ive currently got so many bruises that I'm having to cover them up lest someone thinks I'm being beaten up.

That you are happy to go against ATAGI advice is not reason for other people to do the same. You do whatever you think is best - as we all do.

Again, There are people all over the country who can’t have PZ due to official recommendations. It is truly sad to see that some are happy to say to these people that it’s moot that they can’t get a booster of their choice, or a medically recommended booster suitable to them. It’s not me that needs the help. It’s the people who needs a booster who can’t get it (yet).

Sadly and generally speaking, This pandemic has really brought out people’s true colours. I never knew the level of callousness that a vaccine can forment.

“Yeah, too bad you can’t get a booster”.

Seriously? You've not been around when I had to make that decision and you aren't aware of significant other discussions from credentialled persons known here. So lighten up ok!

So lighten up ok!
And again the criticism is not that you made a decision that suits you - reread my post - we all do that - that is called being informed.

My point is again, to say that it is moot to all those people who can’t have PZ because of their individual medical advice is really a callous position to hold. Your informed decision is no more valid than those I mention here. That they are currently excluded is not right.

Hubs should be a place where vaccines are available to suit all individual and his/her circumstances. AZ is so easy to store, there are no special additional requirements.

She did not go against ATAGI advice.
OK, I acknowledge and apologise for saying so.

The official ATAGI advice still remains that AZ is recommended for people with 2Jab AZ and those with mRNA contraindications. With that in mind, everyone has to make their own personal decision regarding such matters - ATAGI is one such recommendation that carries a certain amount of weight but clinical decisions are nuanced beyond what ATAGI can recommend. ATAGI is only the starting point and therefore there is no issue whatever the decision is - that is after all what being informed is. (And to be clear, I have no issue if informed individuals decide against ATAGI)

My problem that I have is with the view that it is moot if there are people who decide on want AZ due to the above recommendations but can’t get it because the Hubs don’t supply it - as though it is inconsequential or irrelevant - in other words “Yeah too bad you can’t get your booster”.

I’m glad @Pushka got a solution that works and appear to have an available booster solution. But spare a thought for those who want a booster but can’t. It is not moot. It is unfortunate and hopefully that will be addressed.
