The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

if 3rd dose is counted

Why would it be allowed to be entered into the system.
Think about it - reread my initial post about this.
Who are getting Jab 3?
Remember it is not jabs available but jabs given (if recorded in the system) that are counted

Then there are those who are recorded. But as what?. Think how easy is it to get multiple scripts from different Drs

There was that guy that got both doses of AZ and Pfizer. I don’t know how that was recorded. There will be people eligible for split dose due to allergic reaction. There will be people getting third dose (either same or different to first two doses). Are you assuming AIR is smart enough to not allow recording?

I know a guy who has had unecessarily had 3 AZ jabs because he wanted more protection. He got 3rd dose as a walk-in at a pharmac_, where they cant check medicare record to see if you have already had AZ, so they just jab and then submit details. And yes all 3 show on his vaccine certificate. Apprently some of his mates have done the same.

I suspect that your unnecessary and my unnecessary are a long way apart, in parallel with my perception of your "buy Pfizer" campaign.
I want what he has.. how do I do that in paradise ?

Why does any healthy adult need a 3rd dose of any vaccine a month after their 2nd dose? In his early 60s, had 1st dose start of May and 2nd dose last week of July at a GP. Then decided he wanted more protection so exploited the poor Pharamcy controls loophole to get a 3rd dose in last week of August.

This same guy is a Kiwi and as soon as he can return there without HQ, plans to go and get 2 Pfizers there. Its overkill.

There is a case for boosters 6-9 months from 2nd dose, and I will find a way to get a Pfizer or Moderna booster for sure at that point next year, but doing so would be pointless.

However, nowhere in the world is recommending a 3rd AZ dose 1 months after the 2nd, unless there was a screw up with dosage.

But hey if you want to get a third AZ one now /early, there is no chekcing in place to prevent it if you go to a walk in chemist. Knock youself out, there is plenty of AZ doses available.

If recorded at jab time.
I am informed that some (few/many?) jabbers are giving themselves/people they know the PZ that are about to be discarded - not recorded as given. There is a rumour in my circles that one had 1AZ and 3 PZ

I would imagine that some fully jabbed people will try to get a 3rd jab by saying they are booking for 1st.

Medicines have an “on label” use - use in a way and for a purpose that is approved. Or “off label” - use in a way and/or for a purpose that is not approved but is allowed if the patient understands the pros and cons and where common medical practice suggests that treatment is valid.. Lots of medicines are used off label - ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, etc etc etc.
……

In any population there would be those who are happy to Vax, those who are anti Vax and at the other end those who think more is better.

Some people are at the 6m after 2nd PZ.

Im not encouraging people to get a 3rd shot. Suggest listed to TGA and own GP.
But it is happening.

If it is easy to get multiple scripts from different Drs, it will be just as easy to get multiple jabs.

VIC is at 76.31% first dose and 46.57% fully vaccinated. Today's numbers released tomorrow will be interesting with today being a public holiday. A public holiday at this point is probably not helpful for the rollout but we will see.
Would it make a difference? People got nowhere to go.

Others not in the political sphere (according to my sources) have had 3.

Yup I know of early medical workers who have boosted themselves.

I suspect only frontline and vulnerable / over 65’s will be boosted in Australia… I suspect we will follow something like the US.

Because frankly, this time next year we will have all had covid anyway 😂

I’m a frontline HCW seeing covid patients every day. I had my second Pfizer vaccine in March.
The booster dose is largely an evidence free zone from what I have read so far.
I’m happy to stick with the current guidelines. I want as many as possible of the eligible population 12 and over to get two doses ASAP.
I’ll line up for a booster when it’s approved and appropriate.
I don’t align myself with anyone who is going rogue and getting a booster now.

Interesting article on proportion of mrna delivered.

Though I have already posted a trial from the UK where they have given a third dose of AZ and there were even less risk of side efects than the first 2 as well as a higher antibody response than after the third dose.So it will work as a booster.

That's right. I just don't want the 14 day iso

Exactly which is why this auto 2 week for high risk will also have to change very shortly in NSW, ACT and VIC. In fact we are seeing it loosen discretionally in healthcare worker settings already thankfully because it was becoming IMPOSSIBLE to manage…

People once jabbed are also less afraid of getting covid severely and more afraid of what restrictions being in proximity to a potential case will be applied to them…

… So unsurprisingly we are being told that check in data is declining in venues which aren’t strictly strictly policed (as in show me your phone as you do it, not just a bored teenager sitting out the front on a desk glancing at people raising their phones 😆)

… which less face it is a vast majority of places!

But hey if you want to get a third AZ one now

All his will we/ should we/ when should we chatter … ignores individual patient risk profiles…. horses for courses….
I am not, but if I did perceive myself as likely immunocompromised due to age , medical condition and declining vaccine protection , it would be big call to denigrate me for seeking to improve my survival possibilities.
If I was co-resident with an individual suffering the aforementioned conditions, but otherwise mainstream protected, it would also seem reasonable to seek maximised vaccine coverage.
Tread your own path but don't attack mine….. :)

I don't even show those boring teenagers the phone. Thought they are just for people without phones. The Vic app can save favourites so don't even need to scan any more at the frequently visited places and block the entrance.

Yep that is what he did, as Pharmacies have no ability to check if you have already been jabbed elsewhere. It is a loophole that will need to be closed, before widespread booster programs commence next year.

Because frankly, this time next year we will have all had covid anyway

Simply not true. The flu and many other viruses circulates widely every year but not everyone gets the flu (vaccinated or not) every year, so not everyone will get Covid. Other people with weak immune systems will get it more than once.

So it will work as a booster

Whether it will work is irrelevant to my point that is was unecessary for a person to have a booster within a month of dose two (3 doses within 17 weeks) . Im all for boosters when there has been a reduction in immunity, but at 4 weeks post dose 2 you should be at maximum protection, not seeking another

Given boosters do not seem to increase reaction risk, with majority of severe adverse effects being after jab one then there would see to be no reason other than financial and/or supply to restrict boosters long term provided you wait the correct period. Supply should not be an issue next year, so let those not eligible for a government freebie opt to buy a booster at 9-12 months from 2nd dose only with proof.

Post Christmas there will be plenty more real world data from countries that vaccinated faster than us regarding how well those who didnt get a booster at 9 months are doing. If they see rising covid hospitalisations in double dosesd under 65s who were denied a booster, expect the FDA (and equivalent bodies) advice to change such that younger people arent denied access.

Right now we need to get vaccine hesitant vaccinated so we hit our tragets and open up, not making it easy for the paranoid to get premature 3rd or 4th doses.
