The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Slide 12. They were included in phase 1A.

These people have NO excuse for not being vaccinated. I can only presume it is a conscious choice from these employees to be unvaccinated. Fine, don't punish the rest of the community for their own personal decisions.
Yes - they were included in Phase 1A.

Australia has repeatedly seen - announcements at the Federal Level too often not come to fruition. Greg Hunt announced on Feb 16 that all Aged & Disability Care Facility residents and workers would be fully vaccinated by Week 6 at the facilities. That quietly got shelved for Aged Care workers and totally shelved for both Disability Care facility residents & workers despite adequate supplies existing.

No, most border workers never received the workplace vaccinations they were supposed to. That got shelved as well.

Just like the Federal Govt quietly dropped the workplace vaccinations for Aged & Disability Care Workers by the four contracted private sector companies supposedly recommended as the way to go by the millions spent on 'consultants' to ensure the vaccine rollout went smoothly. Anglicare went public today about the inability for their workers to book vaccinations.

As a household contact of Group 1A medical (who finally received 1st dose in May) I had to create 5 different accounts (as told by multiple calls to the helpline) using different email addresses to get the recommended vaccine despite more than double the number of Pfizer vaccines delivered vs required for Group 1A & 1B to have both doses.

I created a 6th account just to see if saying I was a border/quarantine worker would speed up the process. No difference. Finally got a booking by ringing around GPs once they were allocated Pfizer doses. Last 'trial' attempt as 'border worker' early last week had for Homebush - "No appointments available for 60 days, try elsewhere. But the dropdown box for alternative venues was blank.

The only party with no excuse is the Federal Govt who had 14 months to plan & prepare for the roll-out & didn't. In the end they outsourced it to private sector consultants who seemingly recommended private sector operators instead of the various State Health Depts.

Now roughly 5 months after the rollout started, Group 1A recipients appear to still do not be given priority within the booking system.

Have a go yourself & see if whether if you 'click' as a border/quarantine worker when you can get your allocated Pfizer doses.

I’m sorry this is just completely untrue. Again. I myself have personally pumped many people through the priority jab phases because of where they work.

I’m not saying the Fed Gov has been ‘gold standard’ (which is now retired after the NSW disaster anyway!) by any stretch of the imagination. They’ve been stupid and slow, I agree.

But specifically to your criticism and ongoing conspiracy theorising-if people in the priority cohorts wanted the vax they could have / can access it.

From some of the anecdotes I've heard for NSW, this is correct - despite what others are saying or are trying to prove from other States.

Using the same checker - for Sydney there is a range of a few (may be less than 5 locations with supposed doses available in the next two weeks), but when you try to book there is nothing in Sydney NSW.

When I was helping my friend this week find a second dose, I noticed some first doses of Pfizer in the CBD around the beginning of August.

Sorry its not completely untrue.

Go Victoria! It is definitely Pfizer not AZ?

Or has availability improved since last week?

Do tell, as that is not the experience of too many.

Think of it as a Public Service Announcement on how to get the 'Golden Ticket' for those who are in Phase 1A or 1B in Greater Sydney.

It’s called taking a little ownership of fate and being proactive. Honestly I am almost in agreement now with whoever posted saying this forum has just become a perennial bunch of whingers… I get the experience here in AU with the vaccine rollout has not been flawless, by any means - but sometimes I feel people need to take some initiative, putting some effort in and start figuring things out for themselves.

Totally agree! The second Morrison announced that they were opening up to 2A, I got Mr FM to phone every possible vaccination centre - respiratory clinic, state hubs etc. As a consequence we were vaccinated in late April before 2A started. A month later I was still handing out advice to friends who couldn’t work out how to get vaccinated!

When today's numbers come out tomorrow we should have more than 1/7 of those 16+ having had two doses, less than a week after the data as at 14 July 2021 when we reached 1/8 of those 16+ having had two doses.

This is a really good article about having some critical thinking when it comes to being worried about the risk of vaccinations.

The Way We Think About Risk Might Be The Problem
AstraZeneca’s blood-clotting issues are rare and unusual, which makes them great candidates for media coverage and also easy to recall when thinking about risks.

“What doesn’t flood to mind are the many tens of thousands of people who got the jab without any ill effects whatsoever. Of course, these examples don’t come to mind, because we don’t hear about them.”

The Age has a story on the Front Page "Lose lockdowns as more people get jabs: voters"

The Herald Sun has the story on the Front Page "Jab Fun Pass: 'No vaccine, o entry' on agenda for sports, music, theatre events"

Agree and hurry up about it!
