My other half had his second Pfizer this morning (47). Was a walk in 3 weeks ago for his first, when Vic was allowing walk-ins during the outbreak/lockdown and had an appt at Jeffs shed this morning for this 2nd, as Vic are not doing Pfizer walk-ins at the moment, just bookings. I thought it might be very busy but this is was the scene when he arrived at approx 10:10am for his 10:30am appt.
He was done and in the waiting area by 10:26am. The person giving him the vax did say that they were much quieter today than they had been the last couple of days but also that they currently didnt have much Pfizer to give so perhaps less appointments today as less jabs to give out? Nobody much getting the AZ either he said.

Curious form of words. What’s an “adverse health outcome”? What’s adverse For me, or you or the guy over there will be different.

No the ATAGI advice has not changed.

This is being made clear by Greg Hunt when asked why ATAGI changed their advice. His response "They haven't."

This is a case of the Fed Govt NOT following their expert medical advice.

No one said that ATAGI as a whole has changed their advice you must be confused.

We certainly know there was not a 100% consensus within ATAGI to change the advice to 60+ in the first place and hence that let to the work around announced last night which will allow millions of Australians to access vaccines almost immediately.

Which is great news.

Hospital admissions and deaths.

As I stated the number in hospital is no different to same time last year (ignoring Queensland where they send people without symptoms to hospital, in other states only unwell people go to hospital).

NSW (noting that WA is the same Bondi cluster), it remains to be seen if the 3 Queensland clusters (FA, Miner and Hospital) become more than a handful. We are already seeing numbers relatively stable at 20 or so cases a day.

Im not saying there isnt risk, just that for under 50s the risk of serious illness or death from Covid in Australia is not materially different from last year (or last week).

Im all for vaccination but do not agree with undue pressure being applied to a younger cohort to accept AZ TTS risk when it is still currently greater than risk of ending up in ICU or dead from covid. The govt should be doing more to secure more Pfizer or bring forward Moderna.

That risk could change, but its by no means a certainty like some here are claiming.

I dont believe Vic hubs are allowing any walk-ins for Pfizer at the moment, bookings only

... as is said by many - but just how, exactly, would you suppose that could happen? We all know its foreign-made and much of the world clamoring for it or any vaccine they can lay their hands on.

So, unless you or someone can suggest how the Feds can get Pfizer to preferentially supply more of its stuff to Australia, and lets be honest, we need it less than most places) then its just empty rhetoric.

So once again at 3 weeks. Not the 6 weeks someone keeps claiming.

Vic DHHS report yesterday that slots are still available this week for anyone due for their second dose who have not yet booked it.

Without substantial walk-ins you do not really have any need for the long queues at present. But if walk-ins are resumed for greater numbers then the system is in place to deal with it. So it provides flexibility.

Tuesday, June 29, 2021, will be a date I will remember for some time. It will be the date Australia has finally declared its independence from COVID-19 and we start to see large cracks in the border walls between states and the international border begin to form. As someone who has not seen any of their family in the flesh for well over a year now, including several children who were born in the meanwhile, I for one will cherish this day. I know the Ozzie people, they roll up their sleeves when the going gets rough and who knows we may see that international border open by the end of the year (there is always hope!)

No one, but its been reported many have been unable to get their second dose at exactly 3 weeks at the same venue as their first dose, because walks in had to make second booking in a separate transition from the first.

Perhaps you could site the evidence for this claim across the board for all ages? Because the original UK study that talked about longer gaps only made this recommendation for the older cohort (65+) who generally have weaker immune systems, and did not include data for the under 50s.
