Exactly & a couple of my mates in 40's said they'll wait till the masses getting it done before they do.....hmm cos I don't want to push argue with someone getting the jab so Ieft that comment it alone, yet I have no idea as you say, now a booking fight with so many more to get a time.

maybe just hesitancy, whatev's, NFI.
Those mates will probably be the first to whinge when fully vaccinated privileges start getting rolled out eg they not allowed in a pub or some such thing.

Journalist fudging things - saw a clip of Casey Briggs saying Blacktown was the fastest in the country at being jabbed at about 11% of the eligible population in the past week......missed out little Gilgandra over 25%.

SA is getting serious about vaccinations.

We are going to be looking very carefully at those essential workers coming in from level 6 jurisdiction, doing work during their 14 days quarantine,” Mr Marshall said.

“We are working with different industry associations to make it mandatory for them (essential workers) to have at least one of the vaccinatinn doses already.”

He said 50 per cent of South Australians 16 and over have now had at least one dose of a vaccine.

No word of modelling in this article, at least...just a focus on vaccination...

“We cannot rest on our laurels and we don’t want to see momentum diminish as we get closer and closer to those important vaccine targets,” Premier Mark McGowan said on Tuesday.

Lot of our mob at work are spreading the news with excitement that there eligible for pfizer from tomorrow.

Yet sharing screen shots of the website down already. ha as expected!!

Note that for Pfizer for the 16- 39 year olds that the booking slots open at 7am tomorrow, both online and via the phone. I think about 500 extra phone agents are being stood up for the morning assaults'.

I'm a bit mystified by the disparity between Covidlive and Casey Briggs on the ABC about this.

How much difference is it in terms of days or position in the States race?

One thing to note about this week's figures is the 1st dose to 2nd dose mix.

Tasmania is dropping way down the pecking order this week because about 37% was 1st dose mix.

SA, Vic and WA are quite a far way below 50% 1st dose mix.

He and Covid are just making estimated guesses. Casey's is based on using the past 7 day averages, and so that will not end up being the case of what will end up happening.

Neither will actually know what vaccines will be delivered to each jurisdiction and and at what rate in order to make a better prediction.

Plus even the Feds probably do not know either exactly when the Pfizer and Moderna will arrive for them to distribute.

And then overlaying all that is what rate people actually choose to try and get vaccinated.

ie Just with the over 60's who are not vaccinated you will have some who:
  • will never get vaccinated,
  • some who are stubbornly waiting for Pfizer even though they may die from catching covid in the interim
  • some who will get vaccinated eventually
Sooner or later the nation will hit the wall when we reach the % who are not going to get vaccinated.

I think both Covidlive and ABC are using 7 day averages......which 7 day averages makes a difference to the calculation.

I presume both covidlive and ABC are using the 7 day averages of first jabs, but one that hasn't read the fine print can't be certain.

It depends. Some states have been very steady (eg NSW) hence the predictions are probably accurate.

Some other states are erratic so won't be accurate

Neither will actually know what vaccines will be delivered to each jurisdiction and and at what rate in order to make a better prediction.

Plus even the Feds probably do not know either exactly when the Pfizer and Moderna will arrive for them to distribute.

There is a detailed forecast provided to the states, I think it's out to about a 7 week period. It's not like the vaccines come with a 48h expiry date, and the federal government have a stockpile to round out the small bumps in delivery.

As for hitting the wall, states will have a pretty good idea of where they are at, as forward bookings will include a certain number of first jabs. With NSW at 60% and forward bookings out to about three months, I don't think it's in any danger of not reaching 80% (predicted in less than three weeks at current rate).

States with low first jabs and/or a high proportion of vaccine slots going unfilled are at greater risk of stalling.

Pfizer will soon be delivered at the rate of 1 million a week, Moderna starts in a couple of weeks (1 million in september and 3 million a month after that).

Time to stop talking down the vaccine rollout and supply issues - vaccine hesitancy is the number one problem here on.

So Felicia checked her Medicare as being the good FF she is she wanted the Qantas freebies

Great !! Double SC 😂

What we think has happened is that the first lot of doses were Shrek’s and someone recorded them against the wrong Medicare number on the card. Her doses are the second lot.
