the 'braised beef' dogmeat in Y is particularly bad!

I was prompted to reflect on this flying turd of a meal by recent compliments of the J fare (I must confess, my recent J experiences have also been nice and I particularly like the ocean trout and celeriac thing).

I think this particular tray of offal is masquerading as 'braised beef in red wine'. In fact, it reeks highly of liver or sweetbreads and consists of little vulcanized squares of reconstituted abbatoir scrapings in a vile synthetic sauce. My cats wouldn't eat it. Unfortunately, it's featuring prominently.

I always expect a 50/50 split between fat and meat, or a 90% gristle ratio on the chicken. In fact I'm always happy to enjoy bad cuts of meat on a Red-e fare, but this horsemeat is not fit for eating.

Aint no point serving a hot meal if its just warmed-over cough.

Could you please clarify; in the tltle you say it's dogmeat, then in the post you say it's horsemeat.

I've tried dogmeat in Korea and found it ok, but haven't tried horse.

My cats wouldn't eat it either, the bread roll is my savior with that meal

I meant dogmeat as in the sort of meat my dogs would eat (like a roll of dogmeat), but that it was probably horse meat. I ought to have added the space.

I haven't yet had a meal I didn't think was at least edible on QF domestic Y - most the time it's really quite nice IMO. I would think with the amount of quality control that goes into airline meals now days, such a poor experience would be few and far in between.

Which sector was it on?
I'm doing SYD-PER and return this week in Y....
If offered, I take a picture and to post on AFF

Am I the only one amused that the OP complaining about "Dog meat" and what is effectively being described is "offal" is by "haggiscat"??

I'm not surprised that your cats wouldn't eat it! My cats are fussier than most human beings. Anyhow.. I've never experienced a terrible Qantas meal. My expectations are not high and I usually eat prior to departure just in case :)

It's appeared on BNE-SYD, ADE-SYD, SYD-ADE so far. Blegh.

I don't eat haggis, either, though it's probably higher grade.

food is delicious in Int'l first class lounge. must not be cost effective to serve the same quality on the $139 Y domestic fare i normally have.
i suggest using the butter on the Qantas Way magazine and eating that instead.

I find most meals in economy quite OK although the pasta served in economy is bland most of the time.
