I remember Carnaby Street in the early 70s - and Laura Ashley dresses :)

Mr LtL was in Carnaby Street in its heyday of the swinging 60s (before I knew him) when he was a teenager. He has advised me that he purchased a very trendy shirt with braid and double breasted buttons. Oh to have seen that!

Your fabulous memories ;) pricked my interest in Carnaby Street ... I only knew that Austin Powers had a flat there

Thanks for the TR Amaroo it was great... I do worry about all your sly coughpit shots though... you are going to get yourself arrested!:shock:

Very much enjoyed your ANZAC experience ...

Thanks - that 40 odd hours was more like a "boot camp" ;) Enjoying reading/seeing your adventures.

Full marks for staying all the way UITA

Well done amaroo for another fine TR!
How do you rate the degustation on QF F?

Cheers boomy. The food was hit and miss .... more miss. They got the smaller plates right, but failed with the mains. It's a little disappointing that out of 4 sectors I can only rate the soups, mezzo (inspired by Emirates ) pot pie and one main! IMO QF are well overdue for a change in F&B management/consultants - NP needs to go!

Also, the wine selection was a disappointement - more suited for Business ... a stretch at that!

Great TR, thanks for taking the time to post

Thanks LadyC. Have another FS stay booked (SIN) in a couple of weeks. Thinking about cancelling and going to BKK instead - just to stay at the Peninsula again ... there is also those annoying 60SC I need to cross the WP threshold

Keeping with the theme of the TR - it's good to see those Greeks have decided they have bigger issues to deal with than worrying about a few marbles! Elgin Marbles legal action ruled out by Greece - BBC News

Greece has ruled out taking legal action against the UK to reclaim the Elgin Marbles from the British Museum.

In an unexpected move, Greece's culture minister said the country would pursue a "diplomatic and political" approach to retrieving the sculptures instead.

In doing so, the country has rejected the advice of barrister Amal Clooney, who had urged Greece to take Britain to the International Court of Justice.

Lord Elgin acquired the Marbles from the Ottoman Empire 200 years ago.

Thanks Amaroo. It's been a good read. Waiting for the next TR now :) Venice was it not?

Thanks love_the_life.

Correct, Venice it is + Italy, Berlin, London and Paris  FWIW I might squeeze a TR in next week with a "winter warmer" BKK/SIN ... courtesy of my last JASA and a 3K (J* Asia) extravaganza!

Well I've finally finished your TR, disappointing to hear your thoughts on the QF F F&B. Where do I sign up for the next TR's?? :D

thanks for the trip report!! Read it cover to cover.... with great interest in the istanbul section, as we will be there in 4 weeks.

Just tried booking midweek table for 2 on terrace at mikla 5 weeks out... no can do. Was offered table in restaurant. (wonder if a concierge call might change that).

Can you give further details of the dining room and your experience. Not dining on terrace is not a deal breaker? I see they have bar area outside?

have noted other restaurants in your list, however, i can not get partner to commit to anything, so must play everything by ear. mikla last night of holiday was exception.

thanking you in advance.

Thanks ozmouse. I'd definitely give the concierge a try.

We were seated inside with a view towards Sultanahmet - excellent view. IMO the tables facing the other side are inferior view wise ... no impact on service or quality. The tables to avoid are the ones located near the bar.

This restaurant is the real deal!
