Winter Warmer - BKK, SIN and 360SC!

14 months ago I won a spot in the ballot to attend Anzac Day 2015. When my number came up - I decided I would make the most of the situation. I worked out a plan to maintain my WP status for 20 months at a minimal outlay, but a maximum amount of fun!

I deliberately let my WP status drop and received my LTG card at the end of Feb this year - this is the weak link in the plan! LTG doesn't allow access to the SYD F lounge!

Fast forward 14 months and I'm sitting on 1,060 SC courtesy of F/JASA to Europe for Anzac Day (you can see the TR here http://www.australianfrequentflyer....otos/ballot-greeks-turks-last-post-67312.html ) and my last JASA departing tomorrow.

Amex lounge, finally found a use for my Amex QF Ult card.

This is a different lounge to the one I was thinking of.

This didn't taste any better than what it looked ... one spoon and I was out.



The load on this flight can only be described as "financially worrying"

From what I could see - everyone in J had a shadow.

In the forward J cabin - the FA's did their best impression of a Lufthansa First Class arrangement. Everyone had a seat/bed combo 20mins after takeoff.

We were ~30mins late getting into SIN and since I was connecting to my first ever 3K flight I was keen to hit the ground, get my BP and head for the QP.

30 mins later I was in the lounge enjoying this.



3K513 on time - completely full!

FWIW there was zero enforcement of the 7kg cabin bag limit.

The 10SGD voucher that came with the bundle worked without any dramas. I showed my BP (had the the voucher code printed on it) .... I doubt you'd get it without asking/showing your entitlement.

Crikey Hvr your post had me scrambling for numbers! All good as 340 is the target ... just a silly typo.

I love the Peninsula in HK, so will be interested to see what you think of this one. I am lost in admiration at your ability to take another trip so soon - I am struggling to find the energy to do anything more than cuddle with the puppies reading books and trip reports.

The Peninsula Bangkok. Have stayed here half a dozen times over the past 10 years. Toss up between here and the MO for BKK hotels - you can't lose with either one of them.

Four Seasons will open in 2018, will be keen to try that out!

The room view





The MO (Mandarin Oriental) is the river front property just left of centre.



The Peninsula is a unique design, shaped like a W .... every room has a view of the river. The flat bit at the top is the helipad.

There are three things that make The Pen BKK special - location/views, breakfast and pool!

Breakfast.

Have stayed at many hotels around the world that put on a decent spread for brekkie ... this one sits at the top of list IMO.

I'm really feeling ripped off.Daver6 to JNB and now you to BKK had 2 of the courses I had in F SYD-LAX.
So QF F catering is definitely of J standard.
You had the duck salad and blue eyed trevalla dis I had.
