Hot Air Balloon over the Champagne area of France
Midnight Sun along the coast of Norway
Monterosso, Cinque Terra Italy.

Wish List:
Canada to see Bears
South of France
Venice (again)

Too many to narrow down to just 3 places but here goes. My wish list is slightly different.

1. Jerusalem (Old City)
2. Trapezounta
3. Constantinoupoli

I would love to see all 3 in their former glory but not likely to happen this lifetime....

Having read up to page nine ain't there been lots of suggestions.

Travelled to most places, and enjoyed my trips, come to the reality "its great the first impression" we remember and take with us. Travelling to the same place twice is never as good I often wonder why? Two of my recent trips were the same locations and they became boring.

I like to explore new places or set to go somewhere and stay a week which forces me to explore the lifestyle, family history, conference or just relax. It now has to be different.

We have here, in Australia many many places to explore. The most pristine would be the north west Broome up to Darwin.

After a trip I will compare it with somewhere in Australia. One example, last trip to Hawaii Big Island, Volcano National Park, excellent place to see fresh lava, this sent me to the old volcanic region, and lava tubes at Undara, Queensland.

We have so many places to explore, beautiful bush, canyons, coastal drives, so much to see, if I have seen or become bored I just move on, whats more freel safe to travel within Australia.

There are so many that miss Australia on their bucket list and consider it only as a retirement project which they may never achieve.

My top picks

Broome - north west Australia
Kangaroo Island
Tasmania.
Outback Australia.

Just explore Australia you will be suprised at what's out there.

Australia? How about Lightning Ridge? Source of black opals and a place where "people go to lose themselves". Visit the nearby 'Glengarry Hilton' for a tinny before fossiking the dumps nearby. I found a couple of small opals there. See lightningridgeinfo.com.au

Just explore Australia you will be suprised at what's out there.

But I have.Been to all the places you have mentioned except Kangaroo Island and that will be slotted in in the future. And sorry the Hawaian volcanoes didn't have me thinking of Undarra.

OK, here's mine...

Halong Bay, Vietnam - serene beauty
Taman Negara, Malaysia - magnificent jungle
Chiang Mai, Thailand - steeped in culture

Cheers ツ

As my dad receives the gazette, and I haven’t responded, he’s emailed me his 3 choices, which we can take as mine I suppose :p

1. The Chutes at The Remarkables (Queenstown, NZ)
2. The Peak of Treble Cone (Wanaka, NZ)
3. Rotary Park (Lake St, Queenstown, NZ)

I’m just the messenger, but having been to all 3 myself too, they’re favourites of ours I suppose.

Halong Bay
Siem Reap
The Alhambra - Granada
Jerusalem
Prague
Petra
Machu Pichu
Batam - Myanmar
Taj Mahal
Ngorongoro Crater
Gorilla's - Zaire

Good collection and while I've been to many, it just underlines how as individuals we all experience places differently.
Thanks for adding the links too - makes it easier to explore the little known areas. :)

Have just come back from Niagara Falls, loved it. Cross that off the bucket list. Would go back to Namibia, horse graves outside Swakopmund were haunting, sandwich harbour was stunning.
Need to see Ankor Wat, the crystal caves in Mexico and Grand Cannon

Top 3 (was hard to select only 3):

- Helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies (listening to Vangelis), landing on a glacier and dog sledding on a pristine day.
- Paris, especially on a sunday in the Latin Quarter and Luxembourg Gardens 'magnifique'!
- Cinque Terre, hiking the village trails, eating delicious seafood and drinking wine at sunset.

Wish list:

- Ireland (going in Sept)
- Tanzania/Kenya
- Machu Picchu

I think you all need to look beyond the simple ¨where¨, and contemplate the ¨how¨. Have been to Macchu Pichu, and it was good, but a mate and I plan to return there in style. There is a 4 day trek you can do which culminates in the grand entrance to the Macchu site at dawn via the Sun Gate. Sounds OK, but we plan to do that trek sitting in people-borne carriages like the ancients used to do. Carried by maidens in native bikinis. That is something to aim for.

Loved this, Juddles!

As some of you know, I have started to plan my last, post-retirement, grand, RTW tour using my 0.3 million FF points. So, at the risk of upsetting the thread conditions, munitalP, (please humour me!), herewith my bucket list, in no particular order, because that will be decided by the Award ticket conditions...I have booked Sydney-Rio, in time for Carnaval, but that is all... here we go:-

The Bucket List

Africa Serengeti.
Antarctica

Alaska/Norway Aurora Borealis
Brazil Rio de Janeiro Amazon,
Canada
Rockies
China Bejing
Central America
Guatemalan pyramids
Egypt Pyramids
Peru
Machu Picchu, Iguacu, Titicaca, Nazca.
S.E. Asia
Angkor Wat
Sri Lanka Sigiriya
USA
Natioal Parks, New York, Washington San Francisco, Seattle

Let's pretend I have unlimited time and unlimited funds, but don't forget, I only have 5 stops! So where to after Rio?

You may have 5 stops but that doesn't mean you can only visit 5 places, i used my RTW as the backbone to get from continent to continent and then used cheapish flight or bus options to then get around inside continents... Using the RTW i visited South America, North America, Europe and Africa, then used a LAN air pass to get 5 flights around S.A. for about $800, friend had a van and we drove a big circle from Virginia up through Wash DC, NYC, Boston, several place in Canada and then back into Chicago, a few cheap air tickets around Scandinavia and a bus from Copenhagen to Berlin and then a few cheapish flights from South Africa up to Vic Falls and a camping tour into Chobe Park Botswana before flying back to Joburg for the flight back to Australia... I would think of doing something like that and certainly doesn't take unlimited funds and about 2.5 months...

So hard to choose only 3. Could I suggest all the South Is NZ tips ( Fiordland, Mt Cook, Queesntown, West Coast etc ) get put into a South Is group
2. Great Barrier Reef. Every trip there is different, with the added lottery of maybe getting a ride back to land.
3. North of the artic circle in winter. ie Finnish lapland

great thread

Ones I have done...
Cruising the Nile, Karnak and the Great Pyramids
New York by Night
Florence

On my done (but would like to do again) list

1. - HKG skyline - that place just has a presence about it unlike anywhere else I've been to,
2. - Uluru - Did the climb, did an early morning sunrise flight over it
Cook Islands - Wonderful people, fantastic food, and extremely relaxing

On my wish list
3. - Taipei 101 - May get to cross this one off later this year :D
Statue of liberty NY - Never been to NY, but it's certainly on my wish list

An honourable mention needs to go to the golden gate bridge in San Francisco. Back in the 80's, my Nana worked at a travel agency, one of the photos they had hanging on the wall was one of Golden Gate Bridge. To me it always signified being a long way from home, and out seeing the world, so a couple of years ago when I did see the bridge for the first time, I had a moment where I had never felt so far away from home (in a good way) as I did when I saw the bridge which until then had typically seen as a photo hanging on the wall at Nana's travel agency.
