What are the 7 wonders of the world? Are they of the modern world, natural world or something different...

Each of us would argue that something is missing from the list - google this threads topic and the world has responded by creating literally 1000's of lists of the 7 wonders of the world - but which one is right?

I have gazed across a glacier in New Zealand, but is that more wonderful than say a glacier on top of a mountain in tropical Papua New Guinea? Or for that matter, is the Hoover Dam more wonderful than say the 3 Gorges dam on the Yanzee?

Here's my list - I am basing it on nothing and expect it will be shot to pieces many times over :)

munitalP's 7 wonders of the world in no particular order:

1. Fiordland NZ
2. The Great Wall of China
3. Apollo 11
4. Pyramid's of Egypt
5. Whales
6. Tower of London
7. Hoover Dam

I look forward to others lists!

GBR??!! That's the abbreviation for Guadalcanal Beach Resort! I hardly thought that place was a wonder of the world when I resided there!!! Massive barbed wire fence between us and the beach.

Oh wait, maybe you mean the Great Barrier Reef? Or Great Britain? Either way they are way better than the GBR I know!

My boss nicknamed it the Guadalcanal Beach Remand!

The Mendana still exists. Apparently quite popular with a certain Federal Policitian who forgot (neglected) to visit the Aussie troops and Police last year. Meanwhile John Key took the time to visit and chat to EVERYONE at GBR.

Um, in no particular order -

  • Rosslyn Chapel, Scotland
  • Hearst Castle, California
  • Highway 1, California
  • Great Ocean Road, Victoria
  • CN Tower, Toronto
  • Air travel
  • Gin

*grabs pen, starts scribbling*

Keep up the lists people  I need inspiration!

There are many beautiful places on this earth but as far as the 7 wonders of the world goes I shall stick to the 7 Wonders of the Ancient world. What they were able to achieve with very limited resources was amazing....

1. Redfern Oval
2. Yosemite National Park
3. Las Vegas (I don't drink, smoke or gamble but it's still amazing)
4. Rome
5. Great Ocean Road
6. Mt Cook region, NZ
7. Normanby Island, PNG
8. Coffs Harbour

I think uluru needs to be in there some where... Yes it's just a rock, but it's a bloody big one...

I'm one of those politically incorrect people who has actually climbed the thing and signed my name in the log book, I've flown over it in a cessna on one of those early morning joy flights as well as been right around the base of it... :)

Unfortunately only one is standing.

My list; but there are many others I just haven't got around to seeing just yet.

The first 4 I have seen; which are natural wonders.
Yosemite National Park
Uluru
Grand Canyon
Great Barrier Reef

The next 3 I have not seen; which are a mix of natural wonders and man made.
Aurora borealis northern lights
Galápagos Islands
Great Pyramids of Giza

Not in order (apart from No.1)

1. My wife (staying married to me)
2. Have to have the GB Reef in here though Ningaloo is great and doesn't require 90min EW in a boat
3. The fact that my golf swing sends a few straight each weekend (looks like someone trying to bash a snake in a telephone booth )
4. Buildings/Structures: Space Needle, CN Tower, Eiffel Tower, Syd Opera House, Coliseum, The Luxor, Egyptian/Mayan Pyramids
5. The mighty Hawks
6. NYC
7. The road out of Sydney ;)
