Great report. I am heading over very shortly and was considering Thai J but might stick to Qantas J albeit at approx $1000 dearer..:mrgreen:

If you're from QLD, unless chasing SC's on Qantas, a jump over to the darkside (either TG or SQ) may be worth considering simply to avoid the morning transfer from international to domestic at SYD ....

Totally! It's a nightmare well worth avoiding if at all possible, IME.

I think Star Alliance is still a great option for Aussie's even if there is no domestic presence. Think how many options there are ex-Australia, Air New Zealand/Thai/Asiana/United/Continental/Air China/Air Canada/Singapore Airlines.

Of course it helps if most of your travel is International which mine is. Ideally I'd like to get QF Gold or Plat and still maintain Star Gold, just working out whether I travel enough to maintain both...
