Great TR thanks :) love that TG drinks trolley!

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it! Got to get some Star Alliance coverage in here now and then don't we :D

Thanks for the report!

Interesting to see the second meal service came with a plastic cover over the fruit. I did the same route a month ago and they took them off before serving (but we only had something like 8 seats occupied and 5 crew running around with nothing to do!)

As for the seats - the 777s are miles behind the 747 and A346 - the legrest just seems to drop away and can only be redeemed by shoving about three pillow and a blanket at the end to make it somewhat level (again, easy to do with only 8 people and plenty of spare pillows!)

Great report. Brings back memories of our biz class flight from Syd - BKK last month. Looks like the same menu though the presentation of your meals seemed better than ours. I was also disappointed by the main course offering and presentation - it is definitely economy style.

I did notice was that your seat layout was 2-3-2. We also flew on a B777 and it was only 2-2-2. Not sure which is the newer layout and why it's different?

I was also surprised in the lounges in BKK, they don't serve champagne which I thought was pretty bad. My first time in the ANZ Lounge and we thought it was quite good too. But all in all, it was a good flight experience for the price we paid.

MEL_Traveller - perhaps aan oversight by the crew not to remove the plastic lid on the fruit bowl. I know what you mean about the legrest, I do believe that the 777-200 and 777-200ER have slight variations again on the seats so they may be better.

Krugboi - the 777-200ER you would have been on has a 2x2x2 layout, the seats are slightly different but look mostly the same. I'm not quite sure why the layout on the 773 is 7 abreast, but the seats do not seem too narrow at all, it is still quite comfortable. Its a bit unfortunate for the rare times someone would be stuck in the 4 middle seats in the cabin though...

I took a regional flight in TG F and TG J bkk-hkg-bkk which I will review later on and place the link here.

My recent trip was a 772 ex Australia (subbed for a 773 due to light loads) and a 773 back. They both had the same bad seats... at least I couldn't tell the difference (except one was 6 and the other 7 across). The onwards part of the flight was an A346 and the seats were much better.

Overall I find the TG J lounges in BKK pretty poor. i always end up in the SQ lounge.

Great report. I am heading over very shortly and was considering Thai J but might stick to Qantas J albeit at approx $1000 dearer..

Come to the Dark Side (aka *A). Such pleasures await you (like Air China, or United Y). You'll never regret it... (Air China or United Y notwithstanding).

Thanks guys for reading.

craven moorehead: if you want to possibly try Thai C class even cheaper you can do a one way on departure upgrade for about $700 USD at the airport if seats are available. this price applies to BKK ex east coast Australia.

Good report! Maybe next time I will try Thai J for my next redemption booking to Asia and beyond. *A is great for networks and redemption availability. I've tried NZ and SQ J so far, and will try OZ J next month. So will definitely look into TG J in the future .....

Is this offer made to everyone, or, just those that ask or by invitation?

Thanks for the TR. Taking the overnight flight in a few months so good to get a heads up.

I have a stack of BMI points so *A is a good way to go.

Also - don't forget OZ! The daily out of SYD is a good way to Asia and Europe. You can also normally find availability as well.

The only thing I don't like about OZ is that by the time it gets to Seoul from Sydney is that it is already at night, and could not connect to other Asian countries like Japan, so you ended up staying overnight in Seoul. It may work for Europe connection though.

I prefer the other way where coming back from ICN-SYD is overnight. Everything else I heard about OZ is good and I look forward to it.
