Thai Airways: Delays/ Cancellations

Post the 2000 hours drenching Melbourne received on Tuesday 19 December, TG461 (0810 hours BKK - MEL that took off at 0931 hours, B773ER HS-TKW) looks to be arriving at 2159, 39 late.

It is very rare for the 1000 hours morning SYD to BKK, TG476, to run late on two consecutive days.

However on Saturday 28 April 2018, B744 HS-TGF on its second consecutive day on this flight arrived BKK at 1725 hours, 65 minutes late after taking off at 1131 hours.

Today will be somewhat better, but the flight was airborne - with the same aircraft - at 1100 so is estimated to arrive at 1702 hours, 42 minutes down. It is even following the more frequently delayed QF23 - the usual situation is that TG476 is punctual and often QF23 is delayed.

Wednesday 9 May 2018 has TG461, the 0810 hours BKK - MEL (A359 VH-THK) took off at 1009, so expected arrival is 2107 hours, 67 minutes late. It is unusual for a TG flight to Australia to run this late: it may not now be the highest profile international airline, but it manages to mostly run on time.

TG462, the 2330 hours, should be able to depart on time (although a likely heavy storm is on the way to MEL.)

The 1000 SYD - BKK, TG476 is rarely late but Tuesday 29 May 2018 is an exception with B744 HS-TGA taking off at 1054, meaning suggested arrival at 1656, 36 minutes tardy.

On Thursday 26 July 2018, TG477, the nicely timed BKK down to BNE (B788 HS-TQA) took off at 0958 so arrival is suggested as 2127 tonight, 37 late.

On Friday 24 August 2018, TG476 (B744 HS-TGO), the 1000 hours SYD - BKK was airborne at 1042 so arrival should be at 1655, 35 late.

TG475, the 1920 hours Sunday 23 September 2018 BKK down to SYD (B744 HS-TGG) took off at 2045 hours. Monday 24 arrival should be at 0752, 32 minutes late.

Christmas Day 2018 sees TG483, the 0001 hours sleigh-following BKK down to PER that was airborne at 0036 suggested as arriving at 0825, half an hour behind schedule. Aircraft is A333 HS-TEN.

TG465, the just after midnight 0005 hours scheduled BKK - MEL is often early but that is not the case on Friday 4 January 2019. A359 HS-THK took off at 0038 and is arriving at 1339 hours, 34 minutes late on a very hot day in MEL.

TG465, the 0005 hours (just after midnight) BKK down to MEL redeye is more often early than delayed, but on Friday 25 January 2019, A359 HS-THF should arrive at 1337, 32 late.

TG flights to Europe have resumed, according to FR24, but are travelling via mainland China, not the normal route.

Apparently Pakistani airspace is closed until 0800 UTC on 1 March.

TG476, the 1000 hours SYD - BKK is usually punctual (or early) and has a far better timekeeping record than competitor QF23.

However on Monday 29 April 2019, ABF 'SmartGates' around Oz failed at 0600 hours, so passengers required manual processing. B744 HS-TGZ took off at 1109 so BKK arrival should be at 1715, 55 late.

While I cannot warrant that every departure and arrival is monitored, from observation it is very rare for TG to run late into and out of Oz despite what can be its elderly "equipment." On Thursday 29 August, TG475, the 1920 hours to SYD (B744 HS-TGG) took off at 2121 so on a rainy Sydney morning, Friday 30, arrival should be at 0921, 121 minutes behind schedule.

TG476, the 1000 hours SYD to BKK often - mostly? - beats QF23, the 0950 ex SYD into BKK, but today will see the TG flight unable to depart until at least 1105 hours.

TG465, the scheduled 0040 hours redeye from BKK to MEL is almost always punctual but on Sunday 10 November, takeoff for A359 HS-THN was at 0140 hours with consequent at gate arrival 1410 hours, 65 minutes late.

TG466 on Monday 22 February 2022, the SYD - BKK due out at a pleasant mid afternoon 'traditional' time of 1450 hours (B773 HS-TRV) was airborne at 1559 so expected arrival has become 2054 mid evening, 39 minutes tardy.

Thursday 4 August 2022 sees TG465 (the BKK-MEL 0840 hours, A359 HS-THM) having taken off at 1010 hours so delayed arrival of 49 minutes at 2119 hours mid evening is the likelihood.

B773ER HS-TKN is on TG477, the 1925 hours Thursday 11 August 2022 HKT redeye to SYD airborne at 2027 hours. On Friday 12, suggested at gate arrival is 0752 hours, 72 minutes tardy. The aircraft was briefly in a hold north of Goulburn so that hasn't helped timekeeping.
