TBIT 'Qantas' Business Lounge - extremely confused, as are staff

All really appreciated. Many thanks.

Edit: BTW did the OP's situation - AS flights - get a consideration, do you know? Not his specific one, but AS flight gets etc?

I am keen to find out about the same thing too!

Planning a trip to YVR which involves 5hrs of ground time at LAX before catching a WJ (QF codeshare) flight. Would seriously benefit from some lounge access (as a QP) to kill time.

I don't know. Pax seems as confused as the staff. Says they weren't admitted to 'FC' lounge, and didn't argue, but then they were in there 'without incidence', and didn't like it.

I accessed the one world lounge in tbit as a QF sg flying on a domestic aa ticket out of t4 without any issues in the last few days. A few questions various people at the checkpoints along the way (security etc) making sure I knew the flight left from t4, but other than that no issues inc at the lounge check in.

'cept it won't be a 'tunnel' but a departures level elevated walkway - accessed from near gate 41.

"Latter February" for opening is the last I have come across.

This image of the TBIT-T4 bridge/walkway photographed just after I exited TBIT in late October 2015 (TBIT on right, T4 off-screen to left). Edit #1: Opposite side of construction from Rooflyer's shots above (beat me by 4 mins!).

EDIT #2: I'll be interested to see if it's open when Mrs C and I return to LAX in 5 weeks' time

Hi mate

we did the QF/WJ combo to YVR in sep last year. Keep in mind that WJ uses T2 at LAX, opposite side of carpark to T4 so there is no direct link as T2 is a StarAlliance terminal (aircanada) but Westjet operates from there. Once you have dropped off your bags in the flight connection drop off, go back upstairs and back into TBIT to the OW lounge. You should have no issues as long as your WJ BP has a QF flight number. This should be sorted when you checkin at syd and they give you your Syd-lax and lax-yvr BP's upon checkin.

Cheers

I have it on reliable authority that QF have no plans to implement further restrictions post-connector opening.

Basically, the short answer is that the J and F lounges were built with future-proofing (ie. connector opening) in mind.

Of course - there is no guarantee that things won't change, but I have no reason to doubt the information which I have received.

Walked past it on Friday .. the orange barriers are moved ... tbe kerb is back in use .. howver now T4 is blocked a bit ...

To be clear, the situation for denied access most definitely should relate to AAdvantage elites (or those without status) on AA domestic itineraries only.

However, the lounge staff continue to deny access to Elites of other *O frequent flyer programs such as in this post in the last hours from a BAEC Gold:

LAX - TBIT oneworld Lounge Access (Combined thread) - Page 7 - FlyerTalk Forums

Obviously, the staff education is not adequate.
It's not an excuse - But I wonder if he had his EXP number in the booking.

Despite being BA Gold, if his AA number was on the BP, then that is what the Lounge Dragon sees when they scan the BP. And in fairness, they would have to manually change the FF number in the Lounge Access field to allow the BA Gold entry.

Doesn't mean he should have been denied - but potentially easy to see how it could have occurred.

Looks like further re-education is again required.

Qantas First Class Lounge, LAX - Page 6 - FlyerTalk Forums

This was an LA Emerald crediting to AA, so maybe the agent was confused, however, there is no caveat about program crediting when using oneworld partners.

The young lady (late 20?) told me that since I'm flying domestic with AA I can't, and she sent me to the Business Lounge.
On OW Business Lounge I asked the lady, and she told me the same thing, only if I'm flying international, I told her that's not OW rules, and she said that Qantas First Class Lounge have their own rules that are different that OW rules, which is not true since this lounge is not the exemption (as a few others).

Too bad, I had a 4 hours layover and I really want to try this lounge, I'm coming back in a week but my connection will be to short.

Here's another post on FlyerTalk that suggests there may still be a problem.

On one hand the First lounge is listed on the oneworld website and therefore you'd think the oneworld access rules would apply. In which case the member should have been granted access.

On the other hand the Qantas website does not provide for access for the member based on connecting from an F flight.

I'm not sure about that one, he's an AA EXP (no access from that), came in internationally in Y (no access from that) and was connecting to AA F domestic (no access from that, afaik).
Since that guy is an EXP and on an "international" itinerary from Japan, access should have been granted, irrespective of class of service.

American Airlines AAdvantage® members, regardless of their tier status or class of travel, are not eligible for lounge access when travelling solely on North American flights within or between the U.S., Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
Japan is not part of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Bermuda nor the Caribbean.

I thought in that case you had to be connecting to international, not from. But happy to be corrected.

The OP says he is "AA EXP (oneworld emerald)" OWE comes with access regardless of class of travel doesnt it?
But the AA rule might apply but as they said they arent travelling solely in the US so this would be a incorrect interpretation of the rules.
