TBIT 'Qantas' Business Lounge - extremely confused, as are staff

Just confirming even though I am flying QF16 LAX-BNE in Y with no status of note, if I have a Qantas Club invitation I will be able to access the TBIT Oneworld Lounge?

Depends on the lounge invitation - it may or may not be valid in an international lounge.

Business (oneworld) lounge in LAX = gold card or above, business seats. QF invite is not valid.

Had that when we went last year. You can also purchase entry though (we didn't).

We were offered 2x lounge entry at like US $50 each.

This was for departure business lounge in LAX.

That doesn't sound right. You sure you're not referring to buying AA club day passes which would have allowed you in.

No

However the link I gave does say QP members get access if the next flight has a QF or JQ flight number.

Not arguing with that. Just pointing out that QF are misleading customers by saying it's a QF lounge.

Yes they really do make it simpler and fairer don't they.As an OW lounge QPs should be denied but QF says they are OK if flying out with a QF number. So treating it as a QF lounge. But if you have a QP invite you would assume that it would get you into a lounge that QPs would have access to.But no.
The reference to it being a QF lounge came from the JAL checkin agent. So it seems OW has no idea what is going on in TBIT.

i think it depends if it is treated as a third party or associated or partner lounge (or whatever they wanna call it). In those circumstances, Qantas Club members have access, as it is a QF designated lounge for that departure. That is different from Qanats Club passes, which can only be used at QCs.

In bali for example you could have access to the lounge QF was using as a QC member... but invitations were not valid.

If compensation is being handed out i would like some. While i made it into the lounge i was initially rejected and it was very much presented as a huge favour to me and only because i wanted to shower and wasnt doing much else.
I did specifically confirm i was meant to be allowed in with the call centre a few weeks before departing.

The call centre people aren't the ones on the front desk. Carrying a printout of the access rules would seem to be your best option.

The lounge page specifically state lounge invites cant be used as its a OW lounge not QF lounge. Unless we are talking about a non qf invite.

It's a standard QC invite :)

Oh well. I will also have an AA 30 day membership, but I suppose that won't get me anywhere in TBIT. Probably not worth going to the Admiral's Club in T4?

The T4 Admirals Club is certainly worth a visit compared to spending time in the Terminal. The showers are nice and the staff are useful in case of flight changes, etc. You can also have a non-premium drink and a bit of whatever food may be on offer. If you've paid for it then use it!

The AA pass will allow you into the TBIT OW lounge from what i understand.

Strictly speaking, I think the correct terminology for the TBIT Business lounge is that it is "a oneworld lounge, operated by Qantas."
