I have booked a trip to Hawaii next month with Jetsar for myself & family, however it is likely we will not be able to travel due to a crisis at my work. How would I go about seeking a refund for taxes & surcharges (knowing I would probably lose the cost of the airfare); is this possible and is the airline obliged to refund these fees? I realise I may be able to move the flights for a fee dependent on the T's & C's but wanted to understand my options should I want to fully cancel the flight. I'm

Hi yaklam,

Welcome to AFF.

There a many variables with this scenario. These primarily will include your fare type and the associated conditions. The cheaper fares all have quite severe penalties for changes whereas the dearer fares are often changable at reasonable or no cost.

You will be entitled to a refund on the taxes & surcharges but on a cheap ticket these are often less than the fare penalties so the airline will often settle for just keeping the taxes etc.

To say much more would require knowledge of your type of ticket and class of travel.
