Late changes to reward booking

I've booked a QF reward itinerary through North America, Europe and Asia (but not RTW) departing in a couple of weeks and I'm seeking some advice.

I tried to get BA F out of LHR with no success so went with J - I was just happy to get a valid route. However, I've noticed BA F reward seats being released through Qantas three days before departure. ExpertFlyer is showing good F availability around my date. However, as this flight is in the middle of my trip and I would have already started the journey, I wouldn't be able to make changes to the booking.

Does anyone see a way I could get around this to take advantage of a late release of F seats? I don't think splitting off the LHR onwards sectors into a separate booking would work because I believe I would lose the flights I had already secured.
