Thanks. Don't know about your queries, bit I do know it makes planning for the Olympic Games in Rio a bit more straightforward, with the South American Mega trip planned :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I bit the bullet and booked! hopefully will remember to add my QFF when the join OW!

Flying them next February, just a bit too soon by the look of things! Would I still get points/SCs if booked on a LA codeshare?

I would say yea if it has LAN codeshare. They say on the qantas site 'When flying on eligible LAN fares and flights with a LA flight number'

But they also say this in the fine-print underneath the LAN Earning Table:

Excluded: Points and Status Credits are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines.

On that basis, I would say nay.

TAM join oneworld effective from first flight on 31 March 2014.
If I fly with TAM as a QFF member after this date I could be eligible to earn points and status with QFF providing the standard criteria is met (booking code etc).
What if the booking with TAM is made prior to 31 March though?
If the booking with TAM is made prior to 31 March and the flight taken after 31 March will I earn points and status with QFF due to oneworld affiliation?

It when you fly that's important

Thanks serfty. At the moment on TAM you cannot add in a QFF number (still has star alliance grouping), I guess this will change post 31 March. I want to lock in a multicity fare now though and not wait until 31 March, but obviously the perceived risk is that I won't get points or lounge access etc. Will be travelling in party of two - one QC Silver and one Q Gold - and I assume the latter as oneworld saphire will get lounge access.
As you say it's when you fly, but would you take the risk and book now and expect to get points, status and lounge access come flight time?

Depends on the booking class ...

Two things ...

- Going by recent experience you won't know QFF exact earn until about the time they join.

- LAN gives earn on most (all?) revenue classes, even deep discount. They are partnering/merging with TAM.

I'd prefer to book through LAN as the earn rate and privileges are published, but TAM is returning the exact same flights I want - albeit as codeshare operated by LAN - approx. $220 cheaper.

LAN credited my account with 0 points and SCs for a recent domestic flight in Peru...

What booking code was the LAN flight?
If it was one of the ones published as eligible via this link then you should follow up.
Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners

To follow this up, it was L class, which as I just discovered doesn't earn points/SCs on domestic flights in Peru (despite the tickets being rather expensive...)

Points and Status credits are not earned on codeshare flights operated by airlines other than oneworld® Alliance Airlines. Points are not earned in G, N, O and Q classes on domestic flights within Chile; G, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S and V classes on domestic flights within Argentina; G, L, M, N, O, Q, S and V classes on domestic flights within Peru; and G, N, O, Q and S classes on domestic flights within Ecuador.

TAM and US Airways now both show in the FF number dropdown box when making a booking on QF website.

Also Qatar has disappeared from the dropdown list.. RedRoo for your information!

I'm very pleased to see some TAM flights now as options when booking oneworld awards.

I wonder what will happen with my SC/air miles.
I booked my flights on TAM for the domestic flights of the world cup well in advance of the announcement of the simpler QFF. all my flights are before the 1st July apart from 1 a business flight from RIO to MIA!!
