I may need to go to Tiawan in May and wondered the best route to take for a QF One World flyer. Would prefer Premium Economy (work rules basically) or reasonable business.

QF to HKG then CX to TPE will net the most points for a QFF.

Should be able to get PE to HKG on QF127 then CX will be in Y (but only a very short flight)

qantas has code share with BR. SYD-BNE-TPE.
$3.6k. i think there's only 2 flights a week tho.

HKG-TPE is only 34 miles further than SYD-BNE, and I would think that you would enjoy the SYD int J lounge and the HKG CX lounges quite a bit better than the SYD T2 QP and the BNE J lounge. :D

Although, on a more serious note, SYD-HKG has 1.5 QF flight per day, while HKG-TPE has numerous CX flights each day. And while SYD-BNE has quite a few flights each day, BNE-TPE is only twice a week, and I would imagine that routing may be harder to change if you would like to do that, or if there is a missed connection.

I woulnt recommend the BR having flown the route a few weeks back.
But it is the cheaper alternative

I would suggest a OW over there and then a return with CX J flight back ;)
