I'm not much of a writer, so I'll keep this short. I thought I'd quickly share some thoughts on my trip I took yesterday over to Paris.

Firstly, I stayed at the new Rydges that is connected to T1 at Sydney. As far as Airport hotels go, it was new and still had that new hotel smell. But what did it for me was the view (Photo by benjmay • Instagram) would have to say this is best airport view of a decent airport, AKA MEL or SYD. Although I haven't stayed at MEL Airport hotel before.

Flew MAS Ex Syd up to KL, and as they are now One World, I went and had lunch in the QF F Lounge.

Foolishly didn't plan ahead, and had a full lunch and then jumped on the plan an hour or two later, and found out they were serving lunch (Duh! Shoulda checked!)

The 330 MAS fly here isn't that bad. I prefer the shorter seat as it makes the cabin feel much bigger, and the "sorta lie-flat" seat was fine for a day flight. Would have been hard to sleep in that for a decent amount of time I think.

I had also opted in for the chef on call thing they have now, where you pick off the menu... which as I've found is not worth doing for a couple reasons:

1- Hard to work out what you're going to want at the time
2- Feel obligated to eat, if I hadn't pre-booked a meal I'd have skipped lunch as I'd had enough at the F Lounge. Instead we over ate
3- Takes away the fun

Transit at KL was flawless, was as hard as getting off the plane and walking to the Golden Lounge, though they had to be reminded I was OWE and that meant turn right to the F Lounge, not J :)

MAS A380 was impressive. We were row 8 A/C which is the 3rd row, and the last row in the front 'mini cabin' of J.

the seats were equal to QF J, but they seemed to have a lot more storage options, like shoe compartment, wallet / phone compartment, side bins etc.

They also have fixed TVs. These TVs were bigger than QF and a nice high quality screen.. the other thing was I finally got to watch take off on the tail cam! Hoorah!

What really impressed me though was the size of the two bathrooms at the front (dunno about the rest). The size of the toilets would have been 2.5x that of QF First class. Like 2.5x1m size room. It was HUGE! Definitely felt the serenity :p - having seen the QF F bathroom on the tweet and greet, and having flown J on the A380 a few times, I was definitely giving the points here to MAS.

The crew / staff were pretty good. Not as "chatty" as QF, which is something I don't mind that QF Do... for example... "Evening Mr May, interested in some dinner tonight.... <small talk>" and so on, but they were pretty friendly and hospitable none the less. (Maybe the chatty-ness is an Aussie thing)

First time to Europe but I found the times really good. IE, day/afternoon/evening flight to KL, then supper on next flight, sleep 8hrs, then wake up pretty much perfect on Paris time. I always find travel to the US much harder than this!

Great to hear that you had a good experience on MH J. Never been on the new A333 J or the A380 J but will be doing that very soon to LHR!
