Hi All,

Does anyone have a link to a review or pictures for this lounge?

Cheers,
K.

Check out my TR from [post=513234]this post[/post] onwards for a few. It was the lounge as it stood October 2011.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Thanks for that :) How's the food and beverages in the SYD VA Domestic lounge? Planning to fly SYD-CBR-SYD and using my AMEX platy charge card to gain entry!

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Both lounges are presently under renovation so not the best examples in the Virgin network
SYD construction ongoing on a Level 2 lounge, from which the existing lounge will be renovated
CBR will move to a new lounge when the second half of the terminal opens

That said.
Barista all day with snacks and biscuits
Then a buffet style area similar to Qantas -- note the sydney buffet is way too small and plates and cutlery stored on a side tray

Mornings - fruit salad, yogurt, ham, cheese, tomato (for make your own) with a grill plat, toast and normally some preprared bircher muesli
Afternoon/ Eve - normally a hot dish (chick curry) or hot dogs, more condiments and dips and salads

Beverages - a fairly decent selection

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Thanks for the info. When do you think SYD and CBR will have the louges fully renovated and open? :) I need to do a trip to CBR sometime this year, probably before november....

CBR won't be until they get the new terminal i wouldn't think which is slated for 2013. Sydney is in two stages - likely they will open the new floor quite soon and shut the downstairs while the redevelop there.

There were also some pre-prepared pancakes (with maple syrup, jam and cream) available on my visit to the SYD Lounge last Saturday.

I asked the Sydney lounge staff yesterday and they said upstairs will be open in about a month.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Thanks. I wonder how long will downstairs take to finish renovating?

At best I'd be expecting the SYD lounge revamp to be completed early December

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Yes they have been saying mid-2012 for upstairs and then they will close downstairs for renovations and that will reopen by end of the year. Can't wait to see this 'upstairs' area!

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Well you can see the 'teardrop' roof tiles in place already, so expect similar to Melb/Bris I guess. Bit disappointed in the lack of sandwich maker in the Syd lounge recently, let's hope there is one upstairs. BTW total fail on the security gates at premium entry for Syd this a.m. - all pax had to de-shoe/jacket/belt and get manually scanned. Was quite slow.

Implies they will open the top while renovating the bottom which doesn't surprise me. A little surprised that the opening of the first stage wasn't slated for sooner or even announced today.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Have there been any new developments on the SYD lounge?

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

As posted on other threads "The Club" VIP area is open... Access seems to be from the escalator near the main entrance (unsure if any access from the other entrance.
However the other upstairs area is coming along nicely with the roof starting to be put in place.

This is on the same level as "The Club" but closer to the main checkin areas.

The leaf style roof panels have been up for a few months in the lounge next to the club that's slated for a December open. Have they taken them down?

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

First visit to the SYD lounge yesterday. Only have the MEL and ADL lounges to compare it to but like the MEL one much better. Obviously the SYD lounge is being renovated but its a really awkward layout and the furniture seems pretty packed in. The view also is also fairly obstructed.

The MEL lounge in comparison is spacious, logical layout, heaps of seating and an excellent view.
