Sydney delays

Our flights today from PQQ-SYD then to MEL all showng OK at the moment

It's 23 April and there are still weather related cancellations/delays so I'm now stuck in the VA lounge in BNE for the next hour or so...

Delays still happening? I guess some aircraft maybe out of position.

I enjoyed great weather in Melbourne and now back in Sydney "after the rain" which is fortuitous.

Weird thing on my outward flight on Tuesday - got to SYD and in the Lounge the board still had my 'cancelled' flight as running about 15 minutes late! Considered changing back but then thought I couldn't be bothered. Checked the board a bit later and it simply said 'cancelled' - there was no announcement that I heard. I think it had been cancelled hours before but they hadn't updated the boards for some reason.

Not even a rough flight although they forewarned us that it could be a bit bouncy on the way up.

Today my flight out of MEL was scheduled for 1100. Just as I arrived at 1015 Google told me (on my phone) that the flight was delayed an hour so I needn't have rushed. Didn't get any message from VA at all. QF is more consistent in this regard in my experience. Resigned myself to an extra hour in The Lounge but at about 1110 they announced the flight was ready for boarding! Lucky I didn't take off somewhere thinking I had a whole hour. Got into SYD only half an hour late in the end.

The rain is arriving in Melbourne tonight apparently.

Just got a text from VA that flights out of MEL this evening may be affected by reduced visibility, heading to the airport now to try and move forward

My landing was beautifully smooth yesterday morning on CX161 despite the weather. Bags were delayed a bit as there was a storm warning

Fast track wasn't working very well so I was directed to the smartgate. A tad disappointed as it was my first time entering on an Australian passport and would have preferred a personal welcome

Yes we paid, she is now booked on this evenings QF17 flight with 67K

Although, apparently there are 90 spare seats so she may get a shadow.

Yes she got a shadow, but lost her luggage, though it was delivered to her at her sister's place the next day.

I was sitting on the ground (in Sydney) watching it all...and quite happy not to be flying. On Flightradar, QF122 did go to Richmond and 442 went to Canberra. It just shows how you can miss out by minutes...as the 442 was in position to be the first to land, but obviously couldn't wait any longer. His track showed many holding patterns.
