Sydney delays

Hi all, has anyone been stitched up with the apocalyptic weather? Are qantas pushing everyone forward? I'm supposed to be flying to Brisbane this arvo.

I am guessing that there will be major delays all day today. Gee I wouldn't like to be flying in or out of Sydney at the moment.

SWMBO is on QF1514 to Sydney at the moment, she is meant to connect to QF11.
Her original flight from CBR was meant to leave at 0720 and give her a couple of hours in Sydney to connect however this was cancelled, she finally left just before 0900.

Unless you really have to fly today ... suggest staying in bed!!! and yes, all airlines are pushing people forward or offering refunds/credits

I've got a flight SYD-MEL at 1500 and got an update saying it was 35 minutes delayed. But when I check the webpage of flight info it still shows it as being on time.

It would be nice to get to MEL just for some better weather! Not often people say that I guess.

Yeah, the weather here in SYD is bloody awful today. I'm surprised there aren't more delays, actually.

Well QF11 has gone without her and she had 80A, doubt she will get such a good seat in economy on whatever flight she ends up on.

Shrek is flying to CMB with MH via KL. He's currently stuck in the car park that the M1 has become between the Hunter and SYD. Goodness knows what will happen !

Quickly rang them and got through pretty fast so got on 1530 flight which hopefully will fly. But now battling with "new improved" mobile check-in which doesn't seem to work at all. Once I click the link in the email to the booking I end up on some mysterious "Sabre Virtually There" site which has no link to mobile check-in. It does have a log-in button but asks for a username/email not FF number and then doesn't recognise my email and says I don't have a password!! There isn't even a way to register that I can see.

Just another Virgin bug that will take years to fix I guess.

There were not many delays at all with qantas today. I ended up getting an earlier flight just to be safe, but everything seemed to be running smoothly and generally on time from what I saw.

That's a shame. Did she pay extra for the seat? Hope she gets something suitable and is not inconvenienced too much.

Yes we paid, she is now booked on this evenings QF17 flight with 67K

Although, apparently there are 90 spare seats so she may get a shadow.

SYD gets double the amount of rain compared to MEL with the same amount of rain days.

Finally about to depart CBR - was meant to be in SYD at 5pm. Work is rebooking my accommodation to be closer to the airport to avoid the weather...

There are going to be more delays today. There's a rather big thunderstorm hitting SYD as we speak. A number of aircraft are diverting - QF12 and DL17 from LAX have gone to BNE, QF82 from SIN is diverting to BNE & UA863 is diverting to MEL. There may be others. Other aircraft are landing, though quite a few have been going around due to poor visibility - JQ989 and EK412 to name a couple.

PAX on QF580 last night who were connecting to CBR all missed the connection and were put up in hotels.

Looks like today hasn't been quite as bad. Was very happy when VA670 pushed back on time and actually made it to CBR ahead of schedule.

It's 23 April and there are still weather related cancellations/delays so I'm now stuck in the VA lounge in BNE for the next hour or so...
