Three Sydney Airport workers are being treated in hospital after suffering electric shocks from a nearby lightning strike.
The NSW Ambulance Service said it was called to the airport about 7.10am (AEST) on Thursday after three sub-contractors were affected when lightning struck close to where they were working.
An ambulance spokesman said the three men received minor electric shocks through their legs.
Firefighters with the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Service performed first aid on the men before they were taken by ambulance to hospital in a stable condition.

It is sad to hear. I hope they are OK.

We finally had some winter weather in SYD this morning.

I left Syd at 6.20am today... amazing how quickly the weather can change... drizzly but didn't look that bad...

In SYD Int Flounge () now after taking the B*s and it's P*ss*ng down!

There are two drip buckets in the downstairs foyer to catch the leaks ...

Its amazing how far we have come over the centuries, still using buckets to catch drips from shoddy workmanship, design, or maintenance. Wait till you go to use the F toilet on the new A380 and find it's a galv bucket under a jarrah bench with a hole in it.

I always used to be sceptical when airports closed because there was the sniff of a storm around and they were concerned about lightning hitting the workers.

Spose I was completely wrong!

Actually, the scheduled QF1 is acting up. The Capitan just came around talking to those on his flight, telling them the results of the pre-flight checs are contradictory.

It is being looked into; but who knows... water may have seeped in somewhere.
