SYD to MEL 737 or A330 in J?

I haven't flown domestically in quite some time (although I guess most of us haven't 😅). I see Qantas are running both the 737 and A330 - is one generally recommended over the other in J, or should I try them both?

It's a hour flight so it's really not that big a deal, but the 330 is definitely a preferred product for any flight.

ALso note during late Dec and into Jan there is a 787 on rotation... which has the same product as the 330 in J.

Actually the 787 seems to have gone. Damnit! I was looking forward to that! lol

Explains why I couldn't find it 😅 I can't seem to find an A330 on my return at a time that suits, so may be stuck on the 737. Will keep an eye out though for any changes.
 
After over 450 flights between MEL and SYD the only thing that would make me choose one Jet configuration over another would be if it it had Dreamtime seats.

I've done the Dreamliner in J, twice this week between Sydney and Melbourne and it was fantastic although it was annoying that one one leg the crew opted to control the windows, not fully dimmed but down a notch and I missed out on some good aerial views.

What did they say when you asked for it to be unlocked? (It was probably a mistake)
 
Thanks all - at the moment I've got the A330 out of Sydney and the 737 back in to Sydney. I can't find an A330 on the way back up to Sydney at a time that suits, but I'm not too fussed trying both options so I can decide for myself which I prefer going forward. Just booked my tickets for the AusOpen, can't bloody wait to hop on a plane again and travel.
 
They being QF can always do an equipment swap.
Got this with them long time ago, SYD - MEL, wanted a 330, booked a 330, walked (after an overnight stay at the Ibis Budget Sydney Airport) to T3, had, with so much positive attitude, and hope, got to those gates facing the QF maintenance area, at SYD T3, and to my horror, yep, there, waiting for me, at the gate I was hoping to go on the 330, guess what was waiting for me, yep a 737.
Until you get your bum on the 330 seat, and the 330 reverses off with the tug, and taxis off for the taxi way, then runway, and takes off, then you know you have made it.
If you are lucky, you get to meet your 330 down at the end of gates 10/11/12 at SYD T3, and then you will feel the double gate entry to plane experience.
Very very rare for QF to bring their 330 into Adelaide these days, so I do look forward to my next QFi flight, will probably be east coast Aust to Japan.
Their (QF's) flights, to NZ they probably might swap to 737 if they wanted to.
