Hi All,

Can anyone tell me which passengers are given express clearance cards at SYD?

Cheers!!

So will a QF gold FF still get a pass if flying on a Jetsar flight (starclass)?

Thanks!! :p

I am unsure as I don't fly on JQ. However if you pick one up on a QF flight then you can actually use them on your JQ flights.

Please let us know as I'd be interested to know whether the express card is given to *class pax.

Will put a post up once I know. I haven't flown JQ internationally before so will be interested to know.

Short answer - no. From what I know & have expeirenced, JQ does not offer either Starclass or QFF premium pax access to the Express lane (don't want to spend the money on the passes would be the logical reason).

As simongr said, if you happen to have a spare Express pass that wasn't taken off your hands, then there's nothing stopping you using it with a JQ ticket.

As mentioned above QF SG does not get Express Card, however it does seem that this is not followed strictly always.. I have often been given an Express Card (Both Inbound and OutBound).. and at times been refused one even on request stating that Gold are not eligible.. But as per Policy SG are not eligible.

Forgot to mention.. I am SG

Yes you can get an express pass from JQ *Class

You may have to ask for it though.

Very inconsistent, have been given them at check in as SG in whY but not often.

From what I can tell from my experience:

Flying QF: WP, J or F
Flying JQ: Star Class

Giving express passes to Star Class passengers is fairly new to me, as I only recently got one flying Star Class (I don't do this often!). Either that or, as said before, it's inconsistent.

Now if you're starting from another port and connecting via a domestic flight on QF to a JQ Star Class booking, you might be able to finagle an express pass as a WP from the domestic counter (for NGCI, see the Premium Desk).

In general, any airline's outbound express pass will work - the officers checking for passes don't check (in my experience) that the airline that gave you the pass that you're using matches the airline you're flying according to your BP.

They do exist, and I believe should be given to *C passengers when checking in.

Not sure if you get them for express immigration when back in Oz.

Departing Star Class gets one of these -

as a WP in JQ Y - I haven't, not sure about CL though? (Noting: CL get to use the Star Class check-in queue, regardless of class of travel.)

From what I can tell from my experience:

Flying QF: WP, J or F
Flying JQ: Star Class

Last time QF Y+ I got one on board as SG as well... might have been spare ones from J as J was fairly empty.

Must vary by airline....

As an Airpoints Gold I usually get the Express pass even when travelling in Y on NZ.

(the question wasn't just about QF right?)

My Experience concurs with most.

*Class do get an express pass (sometimes you need to ask on check in [if they don't give you obe up front]).

As a WP on QF travelling I have generally received them.

I'm sure there are lots of CL traveling JQ Y quaffing Bundy and coke and weeping into their express passes ;p

I have alwasy been given these, when travelling on EK in J, and GA in J.

EK gave them to you at check in for the outbound, and you were handed them on board for the inbound.

GA were initially handing them out at Check in for each flight, but the last flights they were handing them out at SYD for both outbound and inbound.

If you check bags, and manage to get a clearance stamp from AQIS at the baggage belts, ie: you have nothing to declare, which as an Express you should anyway, you don't need to hand it in as you slip out the preclerance path.

So you can save a few for those times when you may not be flying in a premium cabin.

Well I'm going to take a bit of thread time on this question. I'm going to be flying ADL-xSYD-SIN return, in Y and connecting to J SIN-FRA. This if with QF and I transfer to international in SYD. So my questions:
Will ADL check in have express passes? I guess I can always ask at the F checkin in SYD.
As a platinum in Y on the return will I be offered an express pass or will I need to ask for one?

This will be my first international trip as a platinum. So I'm not to fussed in these things but I would like try all the stuff out like express pass. In fact I'm a bit disappointed about not using F check in but it is probably best to check in all the way to FRA in ADL.
