SYD-DFW really cheap, SYD-CBR really expensive.

Not sure if they will interline QF to QF (BA won't even interline BA to BA) after Sep 1
Interline, by definition, requires two different carriers. It is meaningless to talk about interlining from QF to QF.

Thats true. However its just semantics. Most passengers would prefer/expect that a full service airline would check through luggage within their own network.

I detest the bus, agree with fifa above [quote: It's such a rotten start (and finish) to the holiday though :(]. I have done it when I was younger, never again. Prefer to go via the airport ;). It's amazing how many friends keep telling me how well it works and I keep repeating I think it is the pits.

We do that as well often. It depends on what time the flight is, whether we are staying in Sydney and whether I am feeling narky about spending money :)

Whether we use the bus depends on a number of factors. It's not the pits though it can be a something of a trial. We look at each trip separately before we decide and sometimes fly out of Melbourne so it is a flight for every leg. V Line is not an option! :)

These $999 fares are only $1099 from ADL, so only $50 each way ADL-SYD-ADL. The current sale fares have Canberra to New York over $300 cheaper than SFO, LAX and DFW. I can't work that one out.

I have an ADL-SYD-BKK-SYD-ADL coming up in August that cost me $599, which was exactly the same fare as SYD-BKK-SYD. So Canberra really are being screwed!

ADL have direct flight options, therefore QF know that if they screw over ADL south aussies have the ability to say "screw you guys, we're flying someone else"

It'll be interesting to see what QF does when SQ start direct CBR flights, while I wouldn't expect to see a QF plane flying international from here anytime soon the cost of tacking on a CBR-international port flight might become significantly cheaper.

I hope you're right

I'm looking at booking Melbourne-Houston in August. $1750 for 1 adult and 1 child for MEL-Dallas. Change it to MEL-IAH (Houston - Bush Intercontinental Airport) on the same date (Dallas to Houston is like a 35 minute flight) and the price goes to $2919.

I can actually get it cheaper by flying QANTAS to Dallas. Then recheck with United and fly First Class from Dallas to Houston. (which I think is what I'll do - just leaving a healthy few hours between QF7 ETA and departure from Dallas.

I cannot wait... although SQ will start in September and I am yet to see any QF specials ex-CBR.

Once you achieve LTG , would you consider MEL-AKL-IAH with ANZ?
