    Hi everyone,

This is my first post, after reading for a while. I have flights booked this afternoon from Sydney to Canberra and return.

As this is only for fun of the flight, I booked separate tickets with 25 minutes scheduled as the turn-around time in Canberra.

    QF771 Syd -> Cbr
    QF562 Cbr -> Syd

Is this timeframe too tight? Am I better to cancel for another try next month?

    Thanks

25 mins is possibly a touch too short. I believe the MCT in Canberra is 30 mins and the Qantas website won't let you book a ticket with less than 40 mins MCT.

I think you'll be ok though (I presume no checked baggage!). Canberra is a small airport, and I believe your plane on both journeys is the same (ie it does a turnaround and flies back to SYD - possibly with the same staff!). The plane type is the same, and a 25 min difference in flights can mean the same plane.

Make sure you use online checkin, otherwise you are may experience issues as Syd may not be able to give you your boarding pass, and by the time you get to Canberra the flight may have closed.

I believe there are later flights that Qantas may be able to accommodate you on if you miss the return, but depends on your ticket type and their mood at the time.

    Enjoy the flights.

Welcome to AFF. I would definitely go Skoogle but as Mal suggests, definitely OLCI in case you get caught out. If the same aircraft is returning, I would definitely go for it.

    Enjoy the flight. :p ;)

Hey Skoogle. Please empty your PM's so I can reply to the PM you sent me re. turn-around.

In summary though, methunks that the flight actually goes SYD-CBR-BNE as QF normally have a 40 min turnaround and 25 might be a little too early. CBR-BNE is exactly 40 mins after arrival.

Anyway, OLCI and you should do it. I'll still send the PM when you clear it.

    Cheers,

OLCI is currently broken, returning a server-side error.

I am heading to the airport now.

    :D

Hope it all worked out ok. From the flight times, it should have:

    SYD-CBR:
    QF771 Canberra 15:40 15:38 Departed (2 mins early)
    QF771 Sydney 16:35 16:34 Landed (1 min early)

    CBR-SYD
    QF562 Sydney 17:00 17:08 Departed (8 mins late)
    QF562 Canberra 17:50 17:56 Landed (6 mins late)

Yay, and it was in J class anyway so QF would have happily reaccomodated Skoogle onto a Crash8 in the worst case scenario. ;)

I think its time to get a new job so I can spend my Sunday afternoons doing SYD-CBR-SYD in J. :D

Arrived in Canberra about 30 seconds before boarding started for the return flight. It was probably cutting it too close for my liking.

It was a nice afternoon, away from phone calls and a computer.

Thanks for the assistance and encouragement. This is a great forum.

    - Because you can !
    - Status credit maybe required for gold/plat qualification
    - Aviation nut
    - You want to get to know some QF hosts/hostesses well ;)

Many other reasons, there is threads about it but my quick search did not find the one i wanted to post.

Have you seen this thread on FT Why do so many people hide adult-oriented magazines behind drawers in hotel rooms? - FlyerTalk Forums ?
About 45 pages, read this and then ask yourself why ;)

Why is probably not a question you should ask around here if you want what most people would consider a rational answer :D

Last week tried booking a flight flying out of Canberra on a day parliament finishes a sitting. Was willing to pay $100, 150 odd dollars but not a flight to be had. Then this!
