The world's largest passenger jet, the Airbus A380, is due to make its second visit to Sydney next week.
As part of its final test-flight, the A380 is scheduled to arrive in Sydney at 11am next Tuesday, after a 16 flight from Johannesburg via the South Pole. The round-the-world test flight will require the aircraft to fly over both Poles.
The aircraft will stay in Sydney overnight before departing for Vancouver at 12pm on Wednesday.

Anyone, going out to see her??;) If so, please take plenty of pics and post them...:p

I know this is not in QFs colours but this is a fantastic picture, showing how big she really is...

I don't think it is worth going to see. I will wait to see it in some museum, or book, with the following caption "promoted with so much hype, struck down with bad luck in it's prime, the only 1 to ever get off the production line!". :-|

Just you wait and see. In ten years time, she'll be running CityFlyer flights between PER and SYD. :)

Given they already have more than 1 ...

nah - jetstar will be using them 800 person config for the US flights

Geez...you guys are an unforgiving lot!! I'm not an Airbus spokeperson, but once she's finally flying commercially, I bet we will all be scrambling to try her out, esp. in the premium cabins;)

hey if the schedule works out and there is availability I hope to be on the first flight by SQ

Ahh yes the stand up bars, the library, theatres and gym facilities perhaps? until they figure out that you can squeeze more seats in.

I agree, I am not an Airbus spokesman but I think the A380 will be a vast improvement on the 747, well I hope it is. Regarding fitout well that is up to Qantas not Airbus but I do see the seat count increasing over the years.
One final thought the A380 would be the perfect plane for JFK-LAX QF10Late!
Edit for spelling.

I am really looking forward to flying on an A380 with 800 people on board.

Are you sure that QF will have one delivered by 2016?

Why is there an expectation that the airlines will make this all economy? The 747 has at least two classes and sometimes three so why simply because the plane can have 800 pax will they fill it up?

I agree some planes will be full of PAX but not all.

Can you really see a jetstar A380 with first class?

They'd be the class for whom the fare includes a seat.

No but I wonder if someone will come up with a class beyond First for the real airlines... Premium First - silk pajamas and sheets, ratio of staff/pax of 2:1, arm chair seats and then real beds rather than a convertible seat/bed... Mind you the likelihood of me being able to afford that is Zero ;)

Have SQ revealed yet what the configuration will be?

I have reached the of not caring whether QF will get them or whether they will go to JQ - I will fly in J and if that is on an A380 with QF - great if not I wont cough that QF have a flying bus full of proles and not a premium cabin for me - it will be their loss.

As all my travel now is personal not enough money to pay for anything other than cattle class.

With JQ I expect the airfare would get you on the aircraft. You would then need to pay extra to have a seat of some description! Standing room only anyone?

Isnt that called private jet?

As for SQ A380, IIRC 480 seats and F will be improved again over the recently revealed 77W F.

I reckon you could get more than 800 on board if it was standing room ... hmm maybe those sort of half standing up seats you sometimes get could squeeze a few more in. Maybe even a parachute type harness - save on seats altogether?

Out of interest though if you are a statused QF FF you are generally close to the front of the plane. So what does it matter if there are 750 people behind you? As long as you arent in row 70 who cares if there are 100,200,1000 pax on board?
