As all my travel now is personal not enough money to pay for anything other than cattle class.

With JQ I expect the airfare would get you on the aircraft. You would then need to pay extra to have a seat of some description! Standing room only anyone?

Exactly..

The price you pay for JQ will one day break down as such (with the premium services in brackets - because obviously some people are better than others)

1. Entitlement to print boarding Pass $599
2. Actual printed boarding pass $5 ($8 for laminated)
3. Entry into Aeroplane $2.50 (Free)
4. Permission to use Aisle $2 ($5 for unlimited usage)
5. Seat $10 (Included in Premium fare)
6. Padded seat $5 extra
7. Meals $20 (Hot meals $25)
8. Meals Served $2.50 (Included with hot meals can't let you get burnt now)
9. Drinks $5 (Water Free)
10. Corkage $3 (Includes BYO)
11. Toilet usage $5 (Washroom attendent to spruce you up and feather down your bits $150)
12. Inflight Entertainment $10 (Inclusive for premium) you can gawk at the premium classes for free
13. Exit from Aeroplane $2.50 (Premium service includes Nepalese Sherpas to carry you and your trunks)

I'd hate to see what happens if you don't want to pay to get off. Welcome to the brave new world of flying.

Out of interest though if you are a statused QF FF you are generally close to the front of the plane. So what does it matter if there are 750 people behind you? As long as you arent in row 70 who cares if there are 100,200,1000 pax on board?

It may matter if the plane that landed ten minutes before you had 800 seats :)

I reckon you could get more than 800 on board if it was standing room ... hmm maybe those sort of half standing up seats you sometimes get could squeeze a few more in. Maybe even a parachute type harness - save on seats altogether?

Where you sit depends on the fare you pay for, not your status. Even a platinum holder will be up the back if they're on a Red e-deal.

For a moment I thought I was reading the proposed Fee schedule for QF after MacBank had taken over.

Why? This does not seem to be the case now?

Hey you never know, in fact I'll start it as another thread in the "Playground" section of the forum.

I am sure we could all come up with some quite inventive fees and I will look froward to all the suggestions that we can come up with!

Just wonder if MacBank need the help though:)

err seat comfort?

Sorry what I meant was that if the A380 has say currently 480 Y seats + premium cabins the move to 800 seats will not change necessarily the space per Y pax - they will just take out the premium and put in more Y. If teh concern is that by taking out premium means that they would normall say be able to put in 700 Y (based on the seat pitch of 480 Y) but they squeeze in 800 - thats no different to putting in 550 Y into the same space as 480 originally. None this is simply due to the airplane - and that's my point. Complaining that the A380 is going to make life less comfortable for Y is not imho correct. The comfort of PAX is determined by the type of seat and the pitch - it doesnt matter if you can fit in 900 PAX with a seat pitch of 40in - that would be ok - its all down to how much the airline wants to screw the pax. The A380 is just another tool for that not a root cause.

QF (and others) could take 2 in off every PAX in a 747 and squeeze a few more bodies - that doesnt make the plane a bad plane.

But the disingenuous part of it, will be the marketing, the advertising, the attracting the customer, and assumably the pricing of "Unbelieveable levels of comfort aboard the Shiny New A380"...

Actually the ratio of floor/deck space to payload increases so more space will be available per PAX.

Whether this is used to enhance the F/j experience moreso than WHY etc is up to the carriers.

Lets not forget how the 747's were first marketed:

And now similarly the A380:

Yet the bread and butter comes from this:

Great pics - amzing similarity. So you dont believe that we will have inflight showers? Racketball courts and go kart tracks?

I live by a simple credo, all marketing is lies, all marketers are liars and salesmen will lie to you to get what they want....

Claustrophobia! Try it someday.

  • If booking flight late and pre-allocation has been reached may not be able to get a forward seat and end up with 119N.
  • Congestion in boarding areas, like SIN, unless they build new terminals.
  • Boarding time, especially in places like SIN.
  • Longer turnarounds.
  • Disembarking time.
  • They start serving meals from the back and you get served dinner as the people at the back are starting to get served breakfast.
  • More people queuing for toilets.
  • More people queuing for after dinner drinks.
  • More people to avoid when going for walk through the narrow aisles.
  • More people to queue behind in immigration if you happened to visit the bathroom or browse through duty free

LOL! That is really funny. :D

This has got my warped mind thinking that a thousand seater would be extraordinary in that reaching 1000' after takeoff, maybe a third of the pax would still be on the ground??
