One return J trip to London using cash would cost at least about 7.5k if a solo traveller. $1-2k in fuel surcharges and 256,000 points is a great deal if you can get it. Upgrades also save a lot of money compared with buying a J ticket using cash.

I would definitely take the cash if I had the option.

I have just over 1.1M QFF points I cannot shift and I could drop almost $10k in cash even if I could get rid of them...

Wait what??!! Why am i paying to enter this competition?

Only if you register using the premium SMS number. The online entry form is free, although you can only enter once per draw (compared to SMS where you can do as many as you like - more money for them!).

Has anybody else noticed that depending on where you click on the entry page, you get redirected to 2 different entry forms. The “register your frequent flyer number here” text link doesn’t have a suburb tab field. The banner “click here to enter” link does have a suburb tab field? And the entry forms are different colors?

1 million QF points almost equals $1 million in fuel/carrier surcharges And that’s if you can ever find an International biz/first award available.

T&C’s suggests entrants will get spammed. Oh Joy!
The law requires they provide an opt out with every message so I agree with such T's and C's because there is a stop mechanism guaranteed.

About what? Someone from QF or Channel 7?
Neither. I hung up on the machine phone call when it prompted me to register for an offer. This is the phone number.

I called it back but it’s disconnected so obviously a redirect of some sorts.

The text message I deleted but it was about winning in a lottery.

Perhaps. But some may not choose to follow the law (plus there are certain exemptions) and/or there may be problems applying the law to overseas based businesses.

Using points to fly Y generally provides poor value unless there's a promo on where classic reward seats require less points or you're flying somewhere where the cheapest Y fares are very expensive for the distance travelled.

Yep. Registered and within 30 minutes received a phone call and text message.

Same here, registered around 11:00am and received a text message @ 11:23am: "you're receiving a $3,000 Travel Shopping Spree.........call 03 9071 1843.........". The message was sent by 0427 730 432. Googled this number and obviously it is a "SCAM"

Not 100% sure both are related though.

Any news on the first winner?
Had to leave for work already. 8am meetings are the best.
