No suites back from Cape Town to JNB/SIN/SYD so will get my 1st go on A350 J Class (only ever been F on SG before-nice problem to have).

Keen to see how the new metal goes to SIN then suites to SYD

Interested to hear your report on A350 J - Got SFO-SIN in January booked - looks like a pretty solid product.

Me too. We've got A350 booked to Dusseldorf on boxing day. Thankfully we got bulkhead seats which apparently have much better leg room than the confined cubbies of regular seats. Hope it's good. :)

Back to AFF after a number of months. Just booked SYD-sin-LHR for 2 in R plus 1 waitlisted (mid-late Nov 2017). Looking to book FRA-JFK-sin-SYD once that opens up (early-mid Dec 2017). 10 nights at the Hyatt Regency in London, 5 nights at Park Hyatt Vienna and a few nights in NYC (TBC) to balance the trip out to 3 weeks total leave. Have to put a dent in my 1M KF miles somehow! :D

Any tips for seating for 3 pax in R? I'm travelling with my parents and was thinking 3C/D for them and 3F for me (currently booked 3F for me and 3D for mum on the outbound with dad waitlisted).

Booked Tokyo for Next Nov in R + F with 18 hour transit to catch up with friends for dinner in SIN.

Looking forward to seeing Japan a bit colder as the last few trips have been quite warm.

Would love to see the snow monkey enjoying their hot spring bath.

I booked my first ever non economy flight, from Mel - LHR in July 2017, a couple of months ago for myself and my wife. It was flying first class to Singapore and then Suites to LHR. I had some initial troubles with the booking but after receiving some helpful advice here (don't hang up the phone to SQ until you are happy with the response) got it sorted.

I received an email around a week ago saying there was a change in planes and my seating had been altered. I assumed the worst and that the 2nd leg had been swapped out. Was very happy to find that the first leg had changed from a 777 and replaced with an A380 meaning Suites the whole way.

We are on the 0:05 flight out of Melbourne. I would be interested in any tips to make the most of the experience, given we are unlikely to do this again. Things on my list so far are make sure I get nice paper for boarding passes, make sure I get TPR invitations, collect any souvineers available (the ones you are supposed to collect, I won't be stealing things) try all of the champagnes, use book the cook, try the lobster for breakfast at TPR (mrs mac will, I am not a seafood eater), hope no-one else is in Suites.

What else should I be looking to do or try?

Yes, centre seats in row 3 both legs going over. We are coming back separately, her in J but waitlisted for Suites, me in Suites :) Is there an etiquette about not taking the centre seats when flying alone? I currently have one of them booked coming back but am considering changing in case a couple wants it.

There is no definite set release date or time - varies route to route - earliest usually about 353 days out.

I booked a centre seat and ended up having the other made up as my bed. I am sure the FA would ask if you would be willing to move if a couple wanted the pair - I would have been happy to.

Oh, and if you get a boy teddy (for e.g.) when your bed is made, make sure to ask for the girl teddy to go with him.

Grabbed this morning for +1 and I, SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK :D

Just have to wait till next November to fly :-|

I was hoping for AKL-SIN-FRA-JFK but felt I had to grab what was available rather than miss out.

Did the SYD JFK trip last year. Hope you got the last flight from SYD otherwise it's a very long trip. Nothing better than a hot choc before bedtime :)

Note: At FRA someone is waiting to take the F passengers to the lounge - they have a special security line. I was foggy headed with a cold and cough syrup and nearly missed the sign they were holding. Was so nice to have a shower and get to NYC ready to explore.

Did you get the seats right 'to the minute' that they were released, I'm hoping for this in 2018? Did you book it all as one, or did you need to get each sector? I see the last flight ex SYD is actually a 777.

I'd like to get a <24 hours a connection in FRA as I've never been there. But don't know how to do that, if it is even possible?

I enjoy reading success stories in this thread as lots of planning goes into getting there.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if this is the right thread?

Have a question re waitlist clearing. Basically I booked and confirmed Standard First class for return SYD-SIN-KUL vv. SIN-KUL vv is in Business standard. Had to make the business leg standard as they won't allow mixed class.

But I also waitlisted SYD-SIN-KUL vv in Saver class First and Saver Business for the SIN-KUL vv legs.

I just received an SMS, for the waitlist being cleared for the return leg, SIN-KUL-SYD in saver class for F and J.

Will they allow me to remove the confirmed standard F and J award and return me the miles difference between standard and saver awards for the return leg taking into account my confirmed ticket was a return ticket not 2 one ways....

I will call SQ up tomorrow but just want to get the heads up if anyone know or have done this type of booking before

Thanks,
K.

The same plane that arrives in FRA leaves for JFK, and therefore you either get a couple of hours in FRA or more than 24 hours (in the latter case you'll have to pay the $100 stop over fee I understand).

I did this is Feb this year and had two wonderful days in Sinsheim and Speyer going to the Autoteknik museums there - which are basically one rich dude's idea of fun stuff to collect. Went into a concorde, the Russian equivalent (T144?) and an old Lufthansa B747 on which you get to walk out on the wing. There are a hundred or more planes to look at and explore and lots of racing cars, trains, war memorabilia and the list goes on.

TO my point....ring the call centre and tell them what you want to achieve. I had a great experience with them and they shuffled bookings around to give me my 2 days in geek heaven after I'd made exactly the same booking at you. The trick is ensuring there is availability on the subsequent flights (which I had checked prior to calling). Cost me a whopping $100. By the way a nice little local hotel is the Cross Country - Hotel Hirsch in Hilsbach (Near Sinsheim), which is a small family run establishment. But be prepared for a bit of sign-language. Their English is patchy, but I get a kick out of folks not understanding me. Final tip - rent a reasonable car (Merc A-class from SIXT was reasonable) and do some bonkers speeds on the Autobahn.
Hope you get what you want.

Thanks, here's hoping I get lucky too in getting a seat through to JFK, and am able to get a couple of days in FRA.

Pgsdiver, did you pay +15% points for the phone help?
