Any suggestions please for an overnight stay at SYD airport hotel with transfer from hotel to T3.

Just a preflight position before start of a SYD-MEL-LAX-DEN.

Originally transit time in MEL was 1.5 hours but QF changed the 93 timing resulting in a 1 hour on ground time in MEL.

As its within the 1hr MCT QF will not change flight, so hoping I can go early and chat up the staff at the International check in desk at T3.

Travelling party of 4 with lots of luggage......see thread "Christmas /h olidays season plans"

Love the Rydges near the International. Its getting a little expensive but very convenient for early morning departures. Need to get the shuttle from Dom.

Or are you Dom onwards still in Sydney?

Journey starts in SYD. No prior flights into SYD. Does Rydges use the TBus and advertise it as their own or do they provide early morning departures from Rydges to T3?

It was changed from our first and second visit and it depends on the time. After hours you buy a ticket near Virgin terminal.

Actually I used Holiday Inn last week - a bit further from the airport (near Q HQ) but its just been refurbished and beds were super comfy. They use the super shuttle between the two dom terminals $6 per person each way and they come every 35 minutes.

From memory they use the TBus (free) but outside of TBus hours use their own. That's from memory. All the info is available on the Rydges website though.

Stamford hotel is much closer and walkable, but if you have a heap of luggage that might not be so desirable.

I've used Ibis which was ok for a night but not flash, as well as Formule One(?) which is within walking distance of T3, but definitely basic.

On reflection with 4 with luggage I'd probably stay at the Holiday and get the trip off to a nice start.

Good luck.

Would appreciate any reviews on the airport hotels to domestic terminals shuttle.

I suspect these shuttles would be infrequent and will stop at all airport shuttles before getting to the airport.

and getting a cab would be near impossible as the cab drivers wont like these short fares.

As usual the "last mile" is the trickiest logistically.

Somewhat OT but I'd also be trying very hard to get moved to an earlier flight asap - 1 hour is cutting it fine in my opinion. I'm stunned if through no fault of your own the flight time has been moved and QF won't allow a WP to pre-move flights. I presume you've called at least a couple of times?

You can also get up to 14 days free airport parking at Holiday Inn with the stay and go package-not used myself but could be a good deal

The Holiday Inn shuttle runs to and fro every 35 mins. Also used by Crowne? I think and Ibis.

Have HUACA twice, will be trying again

I wonder if the Qantas platinum desk (if there is one) only operate within business hours only?

Daver6 is correct.
We regularly stay at Rydges. Just show the Tbus driver your reservation confirmation at T2 and when departing the hotel they will give you a ticket for the bus.
Otherwise it's their own van for early and late departures.

Be aware that HI and others use a shuttle company and price is around $6 one way (haven't stayed at the HI SYD since Rydges opened).
Or there is the 400 bus for less but drops off up the road from HI near Mascot station.

Except late arrivals is something like 8pm so its off to the buses near Virgin.

I explained the timings of the Holiday Inn shuttle earlier.

The 4 seasons or marriott are a stones throw from circular quay and direct train to the airport. Could be pricier but better than an airport hotel.

Can't rate the Stamford at Sydney Airport highly enough. We stay here whenever we visit Sydney - whether we're going to the airport or not. Fantastic accommodation, great view of the airport, great rooms, good food, awesome breakfast buffet.

Pretty sure they have the shuttle run every 20-30 mins, I think $10 per pax.

You won't be disappointed :)
