I can't see if this has been covered so sorry if it has already. I received an invitation to do a survey for QF today and was lured by the chance to win a lousy 25K points- hardly worth it really especially when the survey turned out to be a total PITA and I quit before finishing.

It started with the usual question about "how likely you are to recommend QFF to someone else" which I've done many times before. However then it went on to spruik for the proposed travel card tied to the QFF card. I was okay with the survey until it came to selecting one of four or five 'hypothetical' cards. There's a list of all the features in fine print and you select one and then say whether you'd want it now. I thought there might be the one page but then there was another, then another, then another, then another with the features of each card changing so slightly each time. Well I noticed my progress was creeping along at 1-2% per page and I really wasn't reading the fine print any more so I just exited the survey. Really QF - you can't say "ten minutes" and then expect to take 30-40 minutes of my time - that's what it would have taken if I really read all the fine print on each page. The results of this survey will be somewhat meaningless I think.

Okay I didn't have to do it but I was happy to help until they starting taking the mickey.

Anyone else do this? There's probably a whole thread I've missed.

I just did this, the Qantas Cash survey? It's quite possibly the most poorly designed survey ever administered.

Wait until you get the "pick one of these cards" section, it shows you the same 5 cards with about 20 fees and parameters and you need to pick one about 5 times.

What I have learned is that based on this survey, they plan to rip us off with currency conversion and transfer fees of 4-6%. That's just bloody ludicrous. Most of us can already get that for under 3% through our credit cards. In addition, they are proposing an inactive account fee. I'm sorry, what? You have my money on a prepaid card, but if I leave it there earning you interest you charge me a fee?

I loved the bit where it said "we've noticed from your responses, the Qantas cash card was unpopular, can you tell us why?" Yep - too bloody expensive.

Unless the product offer is substantially improved (not 'enhanced') they won't be getting a dime from me.

I did the survey as well - discovered the hypothetical Qantas cash card appears to have poor selection of currencies, poor security, high fees and charges and they may or may not throw in the opportunity to earn points. Compelling - not.

Agreed about the plan to rip us off - ongoing monthly fees or high transaction costs.
Might earn FF points for higher cost.
One option had currency conversion 6% + forex fees 6% = 12% (no monthly fees though) on the QF card.
All options more expensive than what I currently use.

Yes while I was still doing the survey I kept selecting the option which looked to have the lowest cost. But of course I gave up and left it. What possible benefit is there to QFFers to have an expensive card with the QF logo on it when there are so many better options. QF needs to stop look at its FFers as a cash cow and offer some real benefits for our misdirected loyalty.

I design surveys for a living, and the type you are describing are so fraught with inaccuracies as to be pretty much useless. And they are extremely annoying.

I did the survey as well and have to agreed with previous posters that QF card was too expensive in relation in fees. I included an example screenshot.

I didn't mind completing the form.

I found their estimated timeframe of 10 minutes to be rather inaccurate.

I also completed and then got the ..... we noticed you didn't like the card - or something similar, I would think that will be a pretty common occurrence!

A bit like them e reward surveys where the say 25 minutes but it ends taking an hour!

Agreed, this survey was hopeless. I gave up and clicked buttons to simply finish it for the prize entry.

It was too complex, meaningless and badly presented.

Their was 20 variables! Plus I don't think I would ever use a prepaid card considering how many fees their are and 28 degrees CC looks a better option which can be used in most countries rather then be limited to a set number of currencies.

I also received the survey, and was going to post but for some reason didn't. I managed to get through it, with the end result being getting to a question suggesting Qantas Cash wasn't a popular choice of mine, and asking why. I replied truthfully and hope they actually take the info on board.

From what I could see, the vast majority of the Qantas Cash options didn't include points for domestic purchases, and while the survey wouldn't take into account everyones travel patterns, my patterns are purely domestic at the moment, with limited international planned anyway. I told them, I'd use the card, gladly, but not if I'm not getting anything out of it. I already have a debit card I get nothing from, but it's free... ;)

I really hope they've thought this through better, because if it's non-point earning within Australia they may as well not send me a new card. I get they want their customers to travel, but they shouldn't forget about the domestic network.

Anyway, we'll see soon enough what they do.

I'm not sure what people were expecting? comparing the qf offered card it looks identical to the cash currency card already being offered by the partner bank... same currencies etc. I don't for a minute think there is going to be any $$ advantage for a regular person in having a card of this nature.... this is all about qf making money... otherwise they wouldn't be offering it.

I'm not sure I had the same survey - "We value your feedback about your last domestic flight"? But the question that has me stumped at the moment is "How many return trips within Australia have you flown on these airlines in the past 12 months"??? I don't know! What's an easy way to find out? I'm guessing somewhere in the 30-40 mark, but I can't accurately say...

Some do have some strange ideas. I was more commenting on how the features of the card changed per question, as it were. The majority seemed to suggest no points earned in Australia and few earned internationally, which I would totally understand as it's a prepaid card... but in such a case, I wouldn't use it.

They have the ability here, the chance, to change the landscape on cards and offer things that others shy away from. Whether they take that chance, or act like everyone else and just focus on lining their pockets will determine if this will be a success or not. I say, take it to the banks, do more for your customers, and in turn they'll stick with you!

Just guess is the best way, and yes, different survey.

Thanks for all your feedback. The survey responses help us ensure that when the new Qantas Frequent Flyer membership card is launched later this year, its particular attributes meet your needs.
The card fees and points structures outlined in the survey were hypothetical and based on the market standards, and do not reflect the fee and points structure that Qantas Frequent Flyer will release when the card becomes available.
