Got this offer come through via email.

Has anyone done this?
Would they approve ITIN holders?
Apart from maintaining the 5k balance, are there any other downsides?

It seems like the account accures 1.95% APR. Would that trigger a lot of extra paperwork?
Sorry I Applied for the personal

I need some advice regarding paying tax to the IRS. Try to pay tax online and filling up details, notice that they ask filing location, which option I should select?
Received the letter to my Australian address. anyone done this before?
I would appreciate your guidance to ensure I choose the correct option.

Weird - I did both - Rewards Checking was easy and points hit as soon as I made the deposit

applied for the Personal with my ITIN last year and got the points. Shame it is once per lifetime. The SUBs are getting more attractive. Haven’t done the business yet. Is the Business just as ‘easy’ to get as the personal? I know US banks are more stringent on Business checking applications. I know Amex don’t have any branches but I recall there was a section calling out that we declared we are a US resident so they can turn in the correct flag with the IRS. As much as the current AU budget changes aren’t all to my liking, I’d hate to have to also give the IRS a share of my AU earnings in return for a modest amount of MR points. Happy to be corrected here. This is why I didn’t proceed with my application.

Assuming you’re not in the US, outside.

Some others might have a higher risk appetite than me but as you suggest, if it needs me to declare I’m a US citizen or a resident alien, I don’t bother.

There is obviously a lot out there regarding how the C1 shutdowns were targeted towards NRAs who had declared that they were citizens or resident aliens. I would hate to have made that declaration to Amex for them to then rely on that for a SD at a later point in time.

Just made a purchase. The charge shows as the hotel name. Will report back on the actual credit.
Is there an online link? I also wondered whether booking the double tree will trigger it given that they're owned and operated by the same company.

Free cash and gift cards on the table for Chase card holders.
I had to use a VPN on my laptop in cunjunction with my Chase app to sign up for Paze and added one Chase card (my sock drawered UA Getaway). Paze page wouldn't load on my iphone for activation, that's why I used my laptop. I can't see much we can use it on in Australia.

I think that's the other issue. Whilst I though originally that US cards were our way to continue the points game with AU spend, my thinking is that if merchants BIN block them (certain merchants are already doing this to only accept AU issued cards), then this will stymie us unless of course we have significant non AU spend but how many cards can you realistically hold for that? I'm thinking this will unfortunately be easier to implement as the merchant providers can roll it out across their customer base very quickly. I hope I'm wrong as I enjoy using my US cards in AU as my daily drivers now - so much so I don't use my AU cards anymore.

I haven't had a lot of trouble with using USA cards in Australia. Just Vodafone wasn't liking my Citi AA card but still takes my Chase cards and Barclays Hawaiian which I need 1800 more points to get 2 x BNE-NOU-BNE. Short haul on Atmos is amazing!

I'm more worried about US banks raising annual fees and tagging on unwanted coupons for things we can't use in Australia. I think CSR has gone that route. Luckily CSP just refreshed in a good way (for me). Annual fee still the same, hotel credit now $100, added 3x on AirBnB and gas/EV stations. But there are a lot of unhappy Hyatt members because transfer rates got cut to 4 UR=3 Hyatt.

Definitely a hit for Hyatt loyalists with the CSP changes but considering that it is a $100 hotel credit when booking through Chase travel, it offsets the annual fee and a bit more. 10% bonus not as much of an effect if you arent putting everything into the CSP.

Some winners in the refresh at least.

Weird never heard of an issue with Oz mobile carrier
