Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've been patiently waiting to see if the doc review passes without intervention, as success rates from calling seem to be next to zero - so far that strategy is not working! The review is still "in progress"... I'll give it a few more days before running the gauntlet with the call centre.

Final outcome: stuck :(

The application expires after a month so it was time for me to call in. Neither the fraud line nor the general service line could provide much information, but the latter did provide me with an "applications" number to call - the lady who picked up there couldn't see the ID documents I submitted, but did see a note from the document team that the ID docs submitted were not acceptable. She advised that I would need to submit the exact type of document requested in the original email (i.e. a state license), and that it needed to be done before the application expired.

One interesting point to note though is that the first person on the fraud line could find an "account" linked to me - I wonder if this is somehow created when an account is pre-approved, and also why some people seem to be able to get through the application, only to have the card locked up after activation?

Datapoint and warning about DHL. The estimated time of delivery was 27 Aug. It physically arrived in Brisbane DHL yesterday morning 8:46. Based on previous experience, i assumed that since it arrived early, it would be put on a truck today. It wasn't. So I called and asked about getting it on an afternoon truck and why wasn't it sent out today instead of sitting around the warehouse. They said there was a new policy that packages are sent out to match the eta originally stated.

Next time I will choose the $20 one.

@blacksultan Who actually brought your package? Aramex, Aus Post?

Is the rule still wait around 90 days from Chase personal CC prior to applying for Chase Business cards? I was approved early July and looking at the CIBP

Agree - I read that as you have to take it to a local USPS post office - I assume this is in US only - I was thinking how to do it so you don't need to show US ID - and do it from Aus - maybe there is a way you can do it like this
I recall looking into this several years ago. I wasn’t able to find a work-around at the time. I hope that you are able to do better.

It was supposed to be daipost which is asendia local partner but it came in a fedex envelope ( which is why it arrived in 3-4 days ) .
I didn’t have to sign so don’t know who actually delivered .
Also Barclays would not give me a limit increase or waive annual fee etc .

Looks like daipost used fedex for last mile delivery within melbourne .

Being a cloud residents, it’s really difficult.

I opened my first Capital One card, a Venture X, in December last year. Using it day to day has been fine, but recently I tried to use the $300 travel credit in my account and every booking attempt has failed. Even when I switched to a U.S. roaming IP, it still didn’t work.

Sometimes, the failed booking attempts even caused my account to be locked—then I’d unlock it, try to book again, and it would get locked again. At one point the travel credit even disappeared. I also tried booking over the phone, but that didn’t work either.

Has anyone else run into a similar situation? How did you finally get it resolved? Your help is much appreciated!

I'm now the proud owner of a brand new Aviator Barclays card! I put some money on PE to trigger the spend, now impatiently waiting for the annual fee to post so I can pay it and watch 70k AA miles fall into my account.

Oddly enough, an identical envelope from Barclays arrived in PE. It may or may not be a duplicate card. So what I am going to do is let it sit there until the last day of free storage, 4 Sept. Then use the cheapest postage which is $11 and says 20-28 days but still tracked. With any luck, it will arrive after I return from my trip. My husband can bring it in but he doesn't know anything about credit cards so he will just save it for me. In any case, I did the spend so SUB should be coming.

I just wish I could find a link for no minimum spend Hawaiian card. Now the best offer is 80k for $2500 USD spend which is $3850 AUD and I can't do it until Nov-Dec-Jan 90 days.

You can ask them to send you a scan for $2 .
If it’s a card they will refuse and say it’s a card .
If not they will send you a scan .
If it’s a card you can trash or have it sent .

I have mine on auto-scan which gets you 50% off. I figured I'll end up scanning half my letters anyways so overall I wouldn't be much worst off from scanning everything with 50% off. I also like the idea of waking up to an already scanned letter.

That's very odd. What do you mean by fail? I don't have any problems even with an AU IP

it says "uh oh! something went wrong. there is an issue with your account. please contact capital one support". I wonder if this could due to i had commericial address (mail forward centre) before on my account, i only updated to residential address in the past 5 days.

I remember having that problem when they couldn't trigger phone verification.
