Strategy to obtain US Amex

Just applied chase thru itin cc and got under review. Anyone know what should I do next ? Any DP ?
Very common - lots of DP - try to read back and see what peoples experiences have been - I got one 3 months ago - called 4-5 times till finally approved - was address verification for me that was issue. - they were using my ITIN letter not my bank statement as verification - will probably need to HUCA a few times

Im interested to know the answer too. I have been rejected by Citibank with similar reasons
19 Things Everybody Should Know About Citi Credit Cards - Doctor Of Credit - the comments section may help - I remember reading something like - need a minimum of 3-4 year history, no hard pulls in last 6-12 months and no new cards in last 6 months - it was along these lines but I could be wrong - I am still new and focussing on amex, chase and C1 before I branch out to Citi

That came from

I’m looking for some advice. I have CSP since January 2025. I applied in branch though I noticed Chase did ask me some questions which I only noticed after approval. I’ve been using my card regularly though all charges so far have been in AU.

I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth. Do I get more ambitious and apply for one of the ink cards next or let sleeping dogs lie?

I would say why Not. I have CSP in Dec 2024 then Biz Ink May 2025. Reckon after 90 days, you can consider next one if you are not over 5/24.

Ok thanks for the advice. I think I’ll try for it. Hope I’m not putting my CSP at risk since they wanted more stuff at the start which they then seem to have let go with card approval.

Tried to open a broking account on Friday. It refused and asked me to call in.

Who with? Most US brokerages do not deal with NRAs/non-US persons because it creates all sorts of nightmares (including tax withholding issues).

Has anyone here used the Chat function on the Hilton site, to redeem the free night cert from Hilton Aspire ? If so, did it work well ?

And if i were to call up, which number should i be using ?
+80044458667 (International free number) or
1-800-446-6677 ?
(It has been a while since i called up to redeem the free night cert. I know, so bad!)

Only a call would work - I use the numbers through the app. Even the APAC call centre would know about the free night certificates. Any booking past 10pm AEST should be done through the US call centre.

Thank you for letting me know. I will give the international number a call before 10pm (I do prefer dealing with the Filipino call centre lol)

For those who have Chase CC, is there anything in particular to follow or do once receiving the new card to prevent a fraud block? Notes I've got
- Activate card with VPN
- Put small charges (US online local charges if possible)
- Anything else?

How quickly can you start increasing charges if we have some bigger upcoming bills?

I tried to open it with JPMorgan as I was already a Chase customer. Said it wanted SSN so as ITIN is on file, it correctly assumed I don't have one and stopped the application there.

US Membership Rewards 30% transfer bonus to BA Avios ends in about 24 hours (11:59 p.m. Mountain time on 15/7/2025), FYI everyone

Transferred some last night and bonus was built into the transfer, points received instantly on first transfer to BA (account had been linked for a while)

I also transferred some over, then transferred them onwards to QR for a redemption. Don't forget to compare BA/AY/IB/QR taxes when redeeming Avios!

The Amex to BA transfer was nearly instant.

Yep these points are partially speculative on a transfer to QR for a Garuda booking next year (was hoping the go/no-go would be made ahead of transfer bonus finishing, but trip is still 50/50), but if not will just use them on QF domestics or bank for future QR redemptions
