Strategy to obtain US Amex

@sudoer

Any ideas whether NZ QT would work for the Aspire $200 credit? I've had it work for the original $250 when it wasn't a prepaid rate but there doesn't seem to be any DPs online.
Yes, should be fine - Resort Locations - Find Hotels - Hilton any of these locations qualify, and Hilton Queenstown is classed as a resort property (but not the DT, by the looks of it).

Edit - this is for pay on checkout, no idea if a prepaid rate will work, depends how it's processed (by the property themselves or via Hilton corporate or something else entirely).

Hi All,
I sharing my first chase card application expereience, and hoping someone could enlighten me from here please.
Background: 6 years credit history, 7 amex cards, recently approved ITIN, FICO 776
I applied for Chase aeroplan card on 11th May, first time using itin to apply for credit card.
Called chase next day and was told the application was declined, I insisted for a review and was then transferred to recon team (fraud dep). I have been requested to provide below docs:
  • A copy of your social security card - supplied ITIN letter
  • Unverified or missing date of birth. please provide proof of date of birth - supplied photo of passport
  • Proof of current physical address (e.g. utility bill, government issued id) - supply Amex statement x 2
Then I called on 15th May& 17th May, and in both occasions I was told that I will receive a letter in mail advising me result of my application. I wonder if there is still change for a card approval here, and what should be my next move? Thank you all.

If I had to guess, I'd say probably declined for being unable to confirm identity.

If that's the case, that application is probably toast. Wait 3 months and try a new application. All these steps are somewhat manual, so it appears to depend on who you get. I once had an ID verification with Chase where my first attempt at submitting the documents failed then I resubmitted the exact same documents and it was approved.

I see, thanks.
So one new application is allowed every 3 months? I think there was 2 x hp on this application (one happend when transfer to recon team).
Do you think maybe I should set up a checking first or even a secure credit card with capital one before applying chase again?

Finished readying 379 pages last night, took me nearly two weeks!
Thanks for all the knowledge/experience sharing, and also excided to see some of sharing your US CC journey over the last few years.

Something to share from myside
I had my first GT (Brilliant) done early Feb, and just had my second GT(Green Charge) successfully approved a week ago, which should reach my US address today.

I am holding an AU AMEX plat for about 4 years with a decent amount of organic spending each year.

Interestingly on my AU AMEX card , it stated I am a member since 2022, where on my Brilliant card says I am a member since 2017. And I know my first AMEX card was issued in 2010. Not sure how that worked in their system.

I have something similar. My US Amex says I've been a member since 2019 but my AU Amex says 2021

There's no strict limit on how often you can apply, but the more often you apply, the more likely you are to be denied due to HPs. So give yourself the best chance you can by spacing out applications.

I don't think applying to C1 will help you with Chase. If anything, it might hurt you as you'll have another set of HPs. Chase isn't particularly HP sensitive, but the riskier your credit profile, the higher the chance underwriting will decline you.

Thank you for the input, its much appreciated!
I will see how I go with this, and maybe should apply for amex business charge as next card..

I see thanks. I thought you can only get sub once for each card? You applied via null link?
The concept of NLL links has largely fallen by the wayside (with limited exceptions) because Amex has largely stopped issuing them this year.

The better way to think about it is, if you can get approved for a card without a pop-up, you will get the bonus. That includes a card you've had before.

One way of getting a bonus on a card you've had before is to check your Amex account often — they regularly target people for new card offers there, even for cards you've already had.

If you're having a ID mismatch then it's difficult. Cap1 could get your foot in the door but there is no guarantee. I don't recall but do you have an existing US Amex? If so how long have you had it for?

I generally found that applying for cards with my ITIN was much easier once it was around 14-15 month mark after my initial card and 2-3 months after I received my ITIN.

If Chase isn't willing to give you an answer then you most likely have been rejected. You'll probably get an email saying that they think it's fraud.

Thanks, I have amex for over 6 years, but only just got ITIN and chase is the first time i used ITIN for. (the pending application).
