Strategy to obtain US Amex

So, I enquired again (yesterday) about a mail option (Premium + Mail) asking via the MyUS.com web form, yesterday. I received a prompt email response overnight:

“... Thank you for contacting us. Hope this finds you well. Unfortunately MyUS don't offer Premium+ Mail anymore. You may upgrade you account to Business if you like. Go to > My Account Settings> Membership Profile > Membership > Change ...”.

So, still no luck. In any case, the suggested Business option won’t work for me as it makes no reference to ordinary mail, being more about discounts for high volume.
I contacted MyUS about upgrading to Premium + Mail today. They replied “unfortunately we no longer offer this service”, “you may use premium service”, “we can ship mail as long as the mail is shipped as a parcel and there is a tracking number”. Would be good if someone can report back if premium membership (without +mail) can receive USPS or UPS no problem.

The mixed messages from MyUS regarding Premium + Mail are a concern. Although their website no longer shows that as an option.

In summary, the ‘higher cards’ are sent by Amex by (tracked) courier delivery to the Receiving Dock at Express Lane. Items are received by MyUS in bulk, not individually sorted at this time, from a range of couriers throughout the the day. So, on delivery, the courier can confirm that your delivery has now arrived at MYUS (through Amex if necessary).

Then a delay of a few days until notification by MyUS, advising you that the item has been sorted to your suite.

However, as the “Lower Cards” are currently shipped by Amex as ordinary USPS (letter) mail to MyUS, no tracking is provided. I can only assume that it’s normally the end of the line for these letters (and cards). Those that are returned by MyUS to Sender (Amex) could well raise a red flag and Amex may reach out to you if that happens.

However, their system is far from foolproof. I have previously mentioned where I sent a test envelope by ordinary (airmail) from Oz, through Australia Post, containing an old expired/cancelled credit card to my suite at Express Lane. It was an ordinary letter (no tracking) was delivered to Express Lane (presumably by USPS), and was actually processed by MyUS and made it back to my address in Oz. I did not have the Mail (letter) option.

Of course we cannot rely on that happening too often, as essentially it’s an oversight/mistake on their part. Good if it does but unfortunately there may be plenty of disappointed people missing out on receiving their cards.

The trick may be to convince Amex, if possible, to “expedite by courier” for our “Lower Cards” to our residences in Sarasota.

If that happens, then the card can be processed into the suite, ready for delivery to Oz. However, I’m not too sure how to go about this. I wonder if some request to ‘expedite delivery by courier’ due to the (well publicised) delivery delays currently being experienced by USPS would work?

I know that some have contacted Amex to arrange for their card to be couriered direct to an address in Oz, as they are currently out of the US, on holidays. 😉

Seems like either way you will have to take a risk. Either you hope MyUS will process your credit card via mail, or you call Amex to ask them to send via courier or to an Australian address, which has a risk of the agent discovering your MyUS address is a mail forwarding address and flag your card.

You mentioned some people have contacted Amex to send the card directly to Australia, did anyone manage to do this successfully yet?

Yes, there are some posts upthread. Some were cards going missing (probably at MyUS) with requests to forward replacements direct to their holiday address in Oz. Seems to have worked. Also possible to actually change address to overseas (Oz) It seems.

I’m not wanting to go down either of those paths just yet, in case anything gets messy with Amex. Anyway, I’ll wait a bit longer and maybe just try for a second GT and hope that it gets through MyUS. Still undecided on the second card.

Finally was able to experience the Aspire benefits last week as a H Diamond. Stayed at Hilton Adelaide for a week and got upgraded to a suite for the whole week:D. Never had suites for long stays with Gold before. Shame EL was closed due to Covid however gotten envelop full vouchers to use for drinks and canapés which was more than enough to cover the whole week. Generally, Hilton Adelaide is generous enough to offer suites upgrade for one night stays as a Gold and some times even for weekends but never this long.
Humour me if I took the topic away for a minute. Felt its better to report the good news to cheer you guys up🥳 and give you some inspiration;) well worth the hassle, so don't give up

Well my Aspire has landed in MyUS suite - got an e mail overnight confirming.
When I log into MyUS account I can see the package as "under review" - incomplete address. Photos of the package show the suite number is totally missing as others have reported, however they do seem to have found the correct owner!
Hope they ship it to Aus soon..

Did you contact MyUS beforehand to let them know you were expecting a package? Mine still hasn't been logged, even though it was delivered on Saturday... And since its been this long, I'm assuming the address is incomplete as well.

Nice!.. I was there in December of 2019 for 1 night as a diamond member and no such upgrade for me... :(

Did not contact them prior so they must have identified the suite by name only.
The address issue seems common but variable

... Motley Fool spend $99.00 and receive $99.00 ..
The Motley Fool $99 cash backs are arriving. Just been credited to my Aspire (from 29/1/21). No miles from AA as yet (via eshopping portal) but I read some conjecture on FT about this.

Edit: Now to wait for the Dining (used Starbucks) $20 cash back (which I loaded via the Starbucks app on the first day of the of the offer, 1st Feb)

I have received both into my accounts but as mentioned by the bloggers and FT the terms and conditions changed shortly after I subscribed and depending when the sign up was some people only receiving one or the other. No Starbucks either and loaded 3rd Feb.

Got my Fool credit a couple of days ago on my Platinum card for Jan 28 purchase. Chase confirmed points around a week after purchase.

Logged in Aspire additional card account today and found the Fool offer was also available there Good to have an additional card sometimes. :D

Also checked preapproved offers on cardmatch (entered whatever number at last 4 SSN field) CardMatch Offers - CreditCards.com I got nothing but my additional card user got 75,000 offer on the Gold card. Amex site is showing only 60,000.

Looks like I was happy for nothing about the Fool subscription. Terms have changed and only expensive ones are eligible for points now
