Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yes iPlum now for everything Amex, Capital One and Chase. Works for all of them so really happy with the results plus the area code number matches the address nicely. Added bonus it has 2 in the number 5 X out of the 9 didgets.
Which Capital One card did you apply and after how long did you apply for it after getting your FICO. Did it get approved straight away? After the Citibank debacle, I am tossing between the Captial One Venture Card and the Hyatt Card. On Feb 15, it becomes 3 months when my FICO started getting reported and I have a personal AMex Green and Amex Bonvoy Business.

The Capital One is my checking account but would be interested in the Venture card. Green card was the one I got to build with ITIN attached.

On the captial one website, for the venture card, you need an excellent credit score and atleast 3 years credit history. I am not sure whether my 14 yrs history on the card closed in Sep 18 is counted else mine will be 3 months on Feb15.

AUD transactions are fine, just not too large. Mine was blocked after trying to charge over $2k. Maybe I get Hyatt next since we won't be flying soon and already have millions of points sitting here. Chase cards are quite disappointing. I'm not sure if I will even upgrade CSP to CSR esp the fee is now $550. I thought I was excited about them as I was running out of cards to apply. Sapphire cards are overrated I think. Thinking about getting Brilliant after getting 2 more Chase cards then Boundless after 2 years.
Went with Starbucks top up for first transaction and then IGA for second and no issues. Agree with CSP and CSR as the Green card basically same as CSR and better than CSP earn rate. Just like the SUB available and not sure I want the Green moving forward and probably go Citi

Looking for the priority pass restaurant access though and that seems like CSR and Citi Prestige. Or maybe long term view Boundless for 13 months and then upgrade to Ritz. 🤔😂 getting a bit obsessed with US cards 💳😆

Also interesting view from the US bloggers is you can’t get the Venture card if they know you pay your balance in full on other cards. Basically looking for people who carry a balance and pay interest which I assume all of us on here are not.

If CSR fee was still $450, I would consider it. But at $550, I only get 3x on more travel categories compared to Prestige which I get 5x restaurants, cafes, bars/airlines and 3x hotels/cruise. 4th night free isn't too bad if not collecting hotel points. I made a good use of it when booking non Bonvoy/Hilton. Moreover Mastercard XE is always better than Visa.

I know what you meant. I was really obsessed with US cards before and lost interest until this thread became active and wanted to get more. That was why I looked into Chase. After a few years, you will get bored. 😆

For Citi, it doesn't matter if you get Premier or Prestige first. Even if you have one open, as long as it's not open or close in the last 24 months, you will still get a bonus. Chase is more stingy and you can have just one Sapphire card at a time and it has to be 48 months until you get a bonus again. I got CSP first as the bonus is higher and I don't need benefits of CSR (which aren't that useful really) and can upgrade after a year.

For Cap1 cards, from my research in the past, they could be more difficult than Chase. I heard it's best to apply when you are not over 4/24. Their cards aren't interesting anyway. Maybe I will get into it after I'm done with Chase and Amex. Since I got my first card in 2016, I only cancelled one and got 9 sitting here lol It's difficult to decide which one to cancel.

Thanks for the DP. I can only see the option of Premium membership ($60 pa) not “+ Mail”. Is this the one you upgraded to and the cost?
I signed up for the premium membership for $60 or $7 per month and then I emailed support to ask about the mail inclusion. It took about 48 hours and my account was switched over.
There will be a delay between Amex tracking indicating delivery to Express Lane and when MyUS actually allocates the item to your suite. This could take anywhere from 24 hours to several days. From memory, it was three days in my case (pre-COVID). In any case, MyUS signs for items in bulk from couriers, and not individually, perhaps dozens/hundreds in the batches. At that stage, the items are not yet allocated to Suites.
Thanks for this info. Still not in my suite after 48 hours but hopefully appears soon. I did notice that after they added mail to my membership my suite number has changed to Mxx_xx instead of only numerical so I assume I will have to change my AMEX address before applying for future USPS mailed cards down the track.

Question for those who had no problems with missing MyUS suite numbers, do you recall which service was used for their AMEX premium card (e.g. UPS or Fedex). Both times I have applied have been with UPS, and I am starting to believe it is something to do with their address validation process.
No matter how many combinations I try using the above validator tool (apt or ste) the final result omits the all important suite numbers...

So, I enquired again (yesterday) about a mail option (Premium + Mail) asking via the MyUS.com web form, yesterday. I received a prompt email response overnight:

“... Thank you for contacting us. Hope this finds you well. Unfortunately MyUS don't offer Premium+ Mail anymore. You may upgrade you account to Business if you like. Go to > My Account Settings> Membership Profile > Membership > Change ...”.

So, still no luck. In any case, the suggested Business option won’t work for me as it makes no reference to ordinary mail, being more about discounts for high volume.

The courier would be delivering to 4283 Express Lane (i.e., the Receiving Dock). The Ste/Apt shouldn’t worry them, should it? It’s really just a number used by MyUS to internally process/allocate items. That’s my understanding. Anyway, I’ll see if I can find which courier made my delivery to them.

My Aspire card has been delivered to MyUS yesterday via Fedex. Will update if any issues with suite number
Sounds good, will await for your info. What format did you use? Ste or Apt? and did you include that in the first address field or the suite field of the application?

So, I’ve had a look back at how my delivery transpired. I received my Aspire card about 12 months ago (post # 493).

The courier used by Amex to deliver to MyUS was UPS.

There were no delivery issues. My Aspire package was addressed in full, so I’m guessing that UPS would have used the complete address for delivery to My US. However, this will not support your UPS theory.

thanks for that, yeh puts my theory to rest. Currently waiting on my wife's card to hit MyUS. AMEX emails says package has been delivered on Saturday via UPS, however still hasn't been logged.

As it’s still Tuesday (night) in Sarasota, it may not have been processed as yet. 😀

Second field and Apt - I actually meant to put also in first field as some here have done.
Let's wait and see!
