Storm closed Brisbane airport?

Are there general delays again today or have they simply managed to delay my flight out of the 100's of flights today?

Delays SYD-BNE this afternoon, 1hr+ delay on QF542 and flights leaving before/after are full...

Sounds like QF555 could be a good candidate for a curfew runner tonight!

Just in case anyone had any doubts.

QF555 was going to struggle to make curfew so the business lounge in BNE has been moving people to the later flight QF557 as it was going to board ~25 minutes earlier. I was paged and asked if I wanted to move to QF557 and they already had my luggage located ready for the move. I was given 23J to replace my 23J. They did this for a number of higher status frequent flyers and then made a general call about anyone on QF555 to move to QF557.

As soon as I moved to QF557 that is now due to board the same time as my original QF555! :p

Some days are beyond a joke.

We touched down ~45 minutes ago and still not at gate. I called dad to come and get me and he is more than likely going home without me.

Apparently airport is closed and we cant even go to gate. No idea when.

Glass is definitely empty....

I know how you are feeling, I was stuck in the plane 90 minutes last night, hope it will finish sooner for you.

It is now 85 minutes since we touched down and still not at the gate. I have never experienced anything like this in my life.

Dad borrowed mobile to call me. He will try to wait for me as long as he can. Train and bus no longer an option.

Glass is now broken...

Wow. That sounds awful. Is this in BNE ? What exactly is the problem? The frustration for all on board must be unbearable, what's the vibe like ?

Disregard, just saw the fligbt number in your earlier post. Makes more sense given the weather down there. Still awful though.

Looking at Flightaware, QF555 and QF492 made it to SYD but turned back to their origins. Chaos everywhere - I live near the SYD airport, the lightning has only died down in the last 15 mins

feel for all involved - airlines are doing everything to get people where they need to be, but SYD and BNE never handle these night storms well and the curfew just makes it worse

Ended up waiting ~135 minutes out on the taxiway after touchdown. And then another ~25 minutes for luggage to come out. And then waited for dad to come back as he had gone home.

Not many taxis around and the queue was getting longer.

I have never experienced anything like that in my life. Feel sorry for anyone that remained on QF555.

Hope you managed to get home ok last night.
It's still stormy here in S.E.Q. today..

Not a very pleasant experience.. Golf today? :D

The problem at that time of night is there is only two ways to get home - getting picked up by someone, or a taxi. The Sydney trains stop using the Airport Line at a specific time, buses are few and far between, maybe hotel shuttles would be aware of the situation and would have to pay overtime to drivers to pick up thier guests.

So the domestic precint is jammed with cars everywhere because there are no other options. I share the pain for everyone, particularly the ones stuck on the tarmac and were go close to getting out.

Unlike the Brisbane train, the Sydney one operates until midnight everyday and on Fridays last service is at 12:56AM while the last service to the Aiport is a 1.26 AM arrival.
