So after two or three extensive travel years, in which I was catapulted from Lifetime Bronze to Gold (did not pass Go, spent more than $200, totally crushed it!) , I find myself on the cusp of the status slippery-dip at the end of this month - and it's not something a status run can fix!

Post this month's end, I haven't met "retain Gold" by a long shot (wouldn't even meet Silver qualification), and so expect to be down-graded - even though in the latter part of this year I'll have more QFF earning opportunities (but on partner airlines, just not QF metal, so there's that...).

So, based on anyone's current experience, what can I expect? How far will I fall - Silver, back to LTBronze ? Could I get another years' gratuitous extension, given past history? These are the questions...!

What do you reckon?!

You will soft land to silver.

Only way to retain gold would be to burn an unreasonable amount of points if offered.

Given past history, it’s not out of the question

Whether the “x” year rolling average works in your favour, time will tell.

With no forward bookings, it’s probably not promising.
Since you’re in Sydney, you could consider the $319 J fare from Newcastle to Brisbane as a way to bolstering status credits ahead of the end of May Some are available …

Did not know that was a thing...!

One can but hope! My next QF metal is in mid-June..
I'll post my outcome at the end of this month!

So as expected, today being the first day of my new Qantas year, I dropped down from Gold to Qantas Club Silver.

Is Qantas Club Silver the same as Qantas Silver by a different name, or something different?

It's silver + Qantas Club (gives you a bunch of other benefits like lounge access to Qantas lounges)

Looks like QFF is being nice and allowing you in the lounge for a few more months. Does it say when your Qantas Club expires?

I didnt get it either when I dropped last year. I did however have 5 residual months of QC from five years back which was paused when I reached gold and that restarted on dropping back. Perhaps what's happened here.

I assumed this was what had happened to the OP until the post about getting a couple of months QC when you drop to Silver.

Looking into it on the app a bit further, I see that they've added two Points Club Member benefits lounge access, and one Silver benefits lounge access, all valid to 1st June 2027. Other than that, clean slate and 364 days to go - there's nothing I can see about QC expiry, so maybe this is something new...🤔

FYI I've never had QC Membership before, so it's not a resumption.
