Status run idea to take advantage of the Double Status Credits promotion

Grab a crash 8 to TSV and do a run to ADL or DRW as a JASA, the DRW option would require an overnight in TSV. If you have the points, the TSV-DRW run can be done in one day for 48K + $220 cash, nets 560 SCs if your on the promo. Do it on a Thursday and Sunday and you have the added penalty of a Skybed LOL.

Due to daily flight times CNS/TSV/CNS I'd have a night each way in TSV, and if I did the TSV/DRW/TSV in one day I'd only have 45 minutes between arriving in DRW and departing, is that enough time?.

As I have 150 Status points the ADL one would not gain enough to go gold.

Regarding the CNS/PER flights. The direct flights are operated by jetstar. So no business, and it is an A320.

I guess if you go via SYD you could overnight it with a redeye flight on the return. Very long day!

I've just booked CNS/TVN/CNS (paid), then TVN/DRW/TVN points plus pay.

Status points all up 600 add to my 150 total 750, so go for gold!.

Have a J to USA in Dec. then two more domestic Y in OZ (so far) before my cut off date Aug next year, so might even retain Gold.

4/6/2011
CNS/PER QF709/QF597

5/6/2011
PER/CNS QF580/QF932

Long sectors A330 might have flat beds?.

The CNS flights used to be on 767 or 737s IIRC, so no Skybeds as far as I know.

To help out with this. Limewood is proposing to go via BNE one way and SYD the other.

Most likely to get domestic A330's, but might get lucky!

TSV - DRW - TSV is not an issue, the operating aircraft inbound is the same one outbound at DRW. Todays BNE-DRW flight has a J cabin with a lot of AFF'ers !

Same aircraft well that is brilliant, guess I wont miss the flight then!

and thank you... it puts my mind at rest.

lots of AFF'ers uh' well I wonder why :)

So at around a grand all up for flights, tax & accom (TSV) to go from Bronze to Gold is OK by me.

I'm booking mine soon to fly around the end of July.

It's a bit of a stuff around, but I really have nothing else to do with myself haha.

It will be...

MEL > BNE > MEL > NAN > SYD > BNE > MEL

I'll be using JASA for the MEL > BNE return. So all in all it will be around 60000k points and 1500 bucks for what I've worked out to be 800 status credits with the double credits promotion.
Might even stay a couple of nights in Nadi to make it at least some kind of holiday. Is Nadi even nice? Never been there before.

Reading the Q site it says:

For travel on and from 17 May 2011:
Platinum Frequent Flyers earn 100% Status bonus = double points.
Gold Frequent Flyers earn 75% Status bonus = 75% more points.
Silver Frequent Flyers earn 50% Status bonus = 50% more points.

So for those of us invited to participate in this double status bonus run do we get even more?. Like bonus run gives double status points, then plus (say gold member) extra 75%, probably not.

The new status bonus is for ALL QFF members, not just those with the double SC promo. So yes, you will get status bonus points depending on your actual tier when you fly (but you won't get 'double' status bonus points)

The double status credit promotion provides extra status credits

The table above refers to bonus points based on your status level.

These are different things.

TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSV for 560 SCs...

Costs 96,000 points + ~470 AUD. Minimum 3 nights in TSV if you're not based there, since early flight out, and late flight in. I don't think it's doable on a standard weekend, since no flight on Sunday morning.

NB, above doesn't take into account, the points earnt, etc...

For the same money you can do BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE in J as one trip with no stop, will net you 340 SC or 680 SC with the double credits offer (booking through QF with QF codeshare) and you get back into BNE in time for a return to SYD same day around 24 hours after you left, and you do get duty free :p to help offset the costs.

Thats exactly how many I need. I'd prefer to stay local and pref do in same day. now that I have my first SC run under my belt today to get me to gold I thought I'd give WP a crack.

this is what I am looking at
Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide - Perth - Melbourne - Brisbane
Points 12435 340SC.

Havent quite worked out how many points for JASA as it keep telling me cant have that many cities. Does this mean I just have to book them as separate trips? or will they not let me do that either?

Thats not a great use of points, try to look at something BNE-ADL-TSV-ADL-BNE, should be a lot less points to spend.

hmmmm...must have done somthing wrong cant seem to find that itinerary available

ok, this is harder that i thought!

how about i try and break it into two different days gaining me 360 in total b4 doubles, say a week apart, starting and ending in BNE each time. I cant really do an overnight due to family situation. ideas appreciated :)

One more leg to go today to complete my CNS/TSV/DRW run.

Looking at my FF account today I see points have been awarded already from past two days flights, no sign of the double bonus points I was offered and registered for, I guess they come later?.

I see standard points flyer and status points have been already been awarded from past three days flights, no sign of the bonus points?.

How long do these take to appear?
